The real challenge on this one would be finding one outside the South.

Rural and conservative white Democrats throughout the South, but particularly in the Deep South states (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina) won by both Goldwater and Carter.

An Arizonan who really wanted to see an Arizonan in the White House but someone who was otherwise a liberal.

A lot of rural Georgia voters. Goldwater won GA, but even in 1980, Carter won it by a 15-pt margin - in fact, Georgia was Carter's biggest non-DC win in both his elections, for reasons too obvious to mention.

Doesn't the question mean a voter in Arizona who voted for Carter on top of the ballot and Goldwater for senate?

Hard to see given how badly Goldwater did in the north east

Would be hard to see given how Reagan won Arizona by 32 while Goldwater was barley re-elected

Maybe somebody with little political beliefs who thought Reagan was too dangerous but liked Goldwater as Arizona's favorite son.

A significant number of rural and working-class white voters in the South, particularly in the Deep South (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina), as well as in the Florida Panhandle.

Outside of the south they would likely be young adults who were raised in conservatives households but became leftists or turned more leftwards throughout the late 60s onwards(could be hippies or moved out of their parents house for university, workforce etc) an example of this type of voter would be Hillary Clinton
