If the Democratic ticket were reversed, what would have been the outcome?  Would Bush still be President, or would "the son of a mill worker" be President?

Probably Bush, they would have gotten them on experience and that would be an awkward ticket as Kerry is more senior.

Bush would have won by a larger margin.

Edwards was not ready for prime time in 2004.

I believe in 2008 Edwards could be a significant factor.

I think Edwards would have done better, but because of that awkwardness factor conan mentioned, I doubt if Edwards would have selected Kerry to be his VP.  He would have chosen either Gen. Clark or one of Govs. Vilsack, Richardson, or Rendell.

See 1988.

As previously said, it's an awkward ticket.

If Edwards had been taken, I think he might have done better in the popular vote than Kerry, and he could have won... I emphasize could.
Edwards' Two Americas speech often reminds me of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes (The Cuut of tha wood! The thson of a plumber! (He spoke with a lisp))

I think of the choices Ernest mentioned, a good fit for him would've been Rendell. I think they would match up as a good tandem... I also think Richardson would've been excellent.

I think Edwards will make a strong run in 2008, but I don't think he'll get the nod.

Edwards would've probably picked Clark, but anywho, Edwards probably would've picked up Iowa, New Mexico, and Ohio if he was the nominee IMHO.

Edwards was more electable as there was no doubt that he stood for something...which killed Kerry.  Kerry also got killed on the whole Northeastern liberal thing.

Edwards does very well in populist states...picking up WV, AR, and his home state.  Without that "liberal" presence, there is no rush by conservatives to the polls to vote on moral issues.  Edwards wins handily.

I disagree that Edwards would have been able to pick up North Carolina. I wish I could find the poll that showed that he was behind if he was going to run for re-election. He was too liberal for the state, and Burr would have taken him.

Besides, Kerry would never be Vice President.  Unless you are a freshman Senator, you would have more power as a Senator than you would a Veep.  Those spots are usually best for Congressman, and Governors.
