😞

Again. This is why winning this war and containing Russia is so important.

Top Zelenskyy aide says India, China have ‘low intellectual potential’

Quote
According to Podolyak, adviser to Zelensky’s office, “China and India are not able to analyse the consequences of their actions‚ low intellectual potential, unfortunately”.

Another glorious chapter in "how to make friends and influence people"

😞
Perhaps some day the sun will shine again,
And I shall see that still the skies are blue,
And feel once more I do not live in vain,
Although bereft of You.

Perhaps the golden meadows at my feet
Will make the sunny hours of spring seem gay,
And I shall find the white May-blossoms sweet,
Though You have passed away.

Perhaps the summer woods will shimmer bright,
And crimson roses once again be fair,
And autumn harvest fields a rich delight,
Although You are not there.

Perhaps some day I shall not shrink in pain
To see the passing of the dying year,
And listen to Christmas songs again,
Although You cannot hear.'

But though kind Time may many joys renew,
There is one greatest joy I shall not know
Again, because my heart for loss of You
Was broken, long ago. - Vera Brittain

Seems to be an old poem from the early 20th century.
But it should also reflect the feelings of some Ukrainian soldiers too, particularly those from the east of Ukraine.

And on this at least, we agree.

But equally, it is extremely unlikely to happen - less so than when this conflict started, if anything.

Never said that it's likely to happen. It's just more likely than west occupying Moscow like some posted.

EU Ends Ukraine Crop Import Ban.  Of course this just means the various East EU economies could impose their own independent unilateral restrictions.  It seems Poland will for sure do so.

Jerusalem Post did not include Zelensky in its list of influential Jews of the year.  Eugeny Prigozhin is on the list.

If that is correct, a big if, then siding with Putin against Prigozin didn't save Kadyrov from being assasinated by Putin anyway.

Basically they all did the same mistake as the soviet military and the politburo vs Stalin, they should have killed him first.

Holy sh!t, one can only assume this is only the beginning of situations like this among Russian soldiers who return from the war with little support but plentiful vodka.

That’s not even the worst thing I saw a Russian solider do today and for the sack of the tos I’m not posting the twitter link of what it was but is was a horrific crime that happened in Luhansk that I’m shocked isn’t causing much outrage but I gues everyone is numb to it now

"The hard lessons from Ukraine’s summer offensive"

Quote
Some US officials have complained privately to the media that Ukraine had failed during training to master modern operations that combine mechanised infantry, artillery and air defence and were too risk averse in their approach.
Ukrainian officials, meanwhile, have pointed out that American forces have themselves never conducted operations on battlefields like Ukraine’s, without air superiority, against a military the size and calibre of Russia’s, and against some of its most advanced weaponry and military technologies.

The core issue has always been the incompatibility between Ukraine doctrine (mostly from the USSR days) and NATO doctrine especially when trying to use weapons from both doctrines at the same time.

U.S. Army War College paper "A Call to Action: Lessons from Ukraine for the Future Force"

https://press.armywarcollege.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=3240&context=parameters

It pointed out that if the USA were to be involved in a similar conflict like the Russia-Ukraine war then the losses the USA army would sustain would basically mean the return to conscription

Quote
The Russia-Ukraine War is exposing significant vulnerabilities in the Army’s strategic personnel depth and ability to withstand and replace casualties. Army theater medical planners may anticipate a sustained rate of roughly 3,600 casualties per day, ranging from those killed in action to those wounded in action or suffering disease or other non-battle injuries. With a 25 percent predicted replacement rate, the personnel system will require 800 new personnel each day. For context, the United States sustained about 50,000 casualties in two decades of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In large-scale combat operations, the United States could experience that same number of casualties in two weeks.13

Yeah, I think in retrospect the 2022-2023 Russian winter offensive against the Ukraine energy grid was as much about weakening Ukraine's anti-air resources as to ensure Russian air superiority when the Ukraine Summer offensive came as it was a real attempt to hit Ukraine's economy.  That said, I do not see any reason why they will not do it again this winter.

At first I thought this might just be propaganda but Russians on the ground are confirming on telegram that they are having trouble contacting anyone from the 72nd and there are legit fears this is true.
