Is Ukraine fighting back? Do we have reports of actual fighting or just Russian advances?

As pointed out on Sky News just now: you cant demilitarize a country, as Putin as said he will do, without effectively overthrowing the government.

Ukraine's interior ministry apparently confirms a naval invasion of Odessa.

If they're going for Odessa, there's a good chance they invade the whole coastline.

Ethnic minorities? As in Russians?

I'm a bit skeptical of that.

Jon Cooper doesn't know anything and has repeatedly made s--t up in the past.  Please don't let him give "U.S. intel" a bad name by just making up nonsense and attributing it to them.

It's from a real letter: https://www.washingtonpost.com/context/read-u-s-letter-to-the-u-n-alleging-russia-is-planning-human-rights-abuses-in-ukraine/93a8d6a1-5b44-4ae8-89e5-cd5d328dd150/?itid=lk_interstitial_manual_5

U.S. letter to the U.N. alleging Russia is planning human rights abuses in Ukraine

This doesn't even look like a war, just capitulation. But it's early days. I blame Zelensky for massive incompetence.

Russia literally has 5-10x of every single equipment category, plus far better trained elite/special units.

It's like if you went up against a 6' 5'' heavyweight boxer. How long would you last?

Odessa in the SW part of Ukraine is now getting attacked by Russia.

So it’s an attempted annexation, then. Putin lied, millions will die.

There is no telling what political settlement Putin wants. Personally I doubt it would be as simple as just annexation. If he wants Ukraine to be absorbed into effective Russian control and not merely to be a puppet state, it might be via creation of a new "Union State" of Russia-Ukraine also including Belarus as some form of federation (obviously reminiscent of the old Soviet Union). Which then raises the question of what about the other former Soviet states.

Great. Now do compucomp.

Making the occupation costly is really the only viable Ukrainian strategy from what we can see at the moment, but it's probably going to look a lot more like the Iraqi and Afghan insurgencies than like Stalingrad.

There is no real evidence of that (and in fact I saw at least one report of a Russian plane being shot down).

All that is happened so far is pretty much missile launches and some bombing for the most part. That is not something that you defend against. Any resistance will be done for the most part by the Ukranian army on the ground, and that will take more time to come to fruition because they will not all immediately be in contact with the Russian army.

Ok. I haven't seen anything.

Well, yes. But so far Ukraine hasn't done much. Of what I seen. And nobody knows what's happening it seems.

Hasn't even been any message from politicians as far as I know. Only this

Not likely. Stalingrad was 2,200 kilometers from Berlin. Kyiv is 90 kilometers from the Belarusian (which is a penniless Russian puppet state) border and 750 km from Moscow.

It was on twitter about 20-30 minutes ago, don't remember exactly where I saw it unfortunately, but I think it was supposedly somewhere in the Sumy-Kharkiv type area in the north-east of Ukraine, thereabouts.

By nobody, I meant nobody in Ukraine. Their media seem to be out of loop. For instance, they literally quoted CNN etc on what happens in Ukraine.

They'd need to halt the Russian advance and then somehow find the reserves for the counter-attack. The Red Army had a 2-1 numerical advantage on the Germans when they launched Operation Uranus.
