The Russians have now reportedly entered & are fighting for Torske, putting Ukrainians under threat of encirclement.

As for Woodbury, I don't know how he privately feels about the conflict, but his posts here are most definitely useful.

The wast majority of us here support Ukraine, so it has kind of turned into a bubble celebrating every decapitated T-72 and not posting any UA losses, which is terrible if we want an objective view of the battlefield.

This is why I've switched to almost only posting Russian gains. I certainly don't like them gaining a foot beyond Crimea (that's a done deal IMO), but just ignoring it won't change the situation on the ground.

We are not in a trench in Donbas & our "moral" doesn't really matter.

The former Rozivka Raion (Ukraine reorganized local administrative divisions in 2020) has only 8,000 residents. It is bordered by Donetsk Oblast on three sides, so I assume the lame excuse rationale is going to be that it's actually part of the Donbass cruely separated from its brethren by artificial lines on a map.

Serious, still unconfirmed reports that Russia has dropped a huge bomb on Azovstal. The explosion was reportedly heard 100 km away.

Could be a TU-22 sortie with FAB-5000 or FAB-3000 bombs (5000kg/3000kg).

Some people are saying it could be a FOAB, but I personally doubt it, as it is the most potent conventional explosive known to man (claimed 4x stronger than the US MOAB), and can even substitute small nukes.

Eventually the truth comes out when soldiers come home.

It wasn't just the news media (as Reagan era Conservatives liked to claim) that convinced the American public that Vietnam wasn't the tremendous success presented by the government and military. It was also the soldiers returning home, who shared their experiences and the reality in Vietnam or even joined the anti-war movement.

Obviously the situation is different with the government controlled press in authoritarian Russia. It is impossible to convince your average Russian the war is wrong or immoral (brother nation, NATO aggression, protecting Donbass, etc.). But, it is possible to convince them the war isn't winnable or worth the cost. It's hard to hide the magnitude of casualties when they're your son.
