Say Kemp was able to shock the world and win the GOP nomination and then goes on to face Al Gore in the general election , how do you think the election looks like . I think the map looks something like this

Congressman Jack Kemp (R-NY) / Fmr. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (R-IL)  ✓
Senator Al Gore (D-TN) / Governor Mario Cuomo (D-NY)

Gore runs to the right of OTL Dukakis, suiting the political climate better, but a Kemp further to the right than Bush OTL is still the preferred candidate on wedge issues like crime.
