Phil, do you believe that the fact that the US has a minimum wage and public education makes it equivalent to the Soviet Union and that evolution teaches that you can get a dog by combining a grain of wheat and a starfish?

I'm pretty excited by this.  Wetterling is a good candidate and deserves to win.  However, lets not forget this is the most Republican District in Minnesota and its Congressman is running for Senator this year.  Its difficult to see how Wetterling can win here; voters are not going to split tickets for Kennedy and her.

It's possible because Bachmann is WAY WAY more extreme than Kennedy. She's Tom Coburn in a dress.

Witness the power of the Foley scandal everyone. Outside of FL-13 and Tom Reynolds' district, political experts predicted the scandal would heavily influence the race here as a result of Wetterling being an outspoken child safety advocate and her son having been kidnapped. As a result she is getting a lot of good media attention out of this and that only hurts Bachmann.

Brachmann is probably one of the nuttiest people running this cycle. Global warming doesnt exist and Terri Schiavo was healthy and not terminally ill.

I live in this district and I have observed some points I like to add to this race.

Michelle Bachmann is a very good campaigner; however, she is very divisive on certain issues and that can turn voters away like myself.

Patty Wetterling is a good candidate and has great name recognition, which helps her because she is a very weak campaigner. Also, many people feel Wetterling is just being led around by the party hierarchy.

The last thing my district needs is a right-wing crackpot or a weak representative.

Looks like another faux name will be added to my vote.

How does that make her any different from your average House GOPer?

What does that have to do with me saying Bachmann will win? By the way, I don't buy this poll since it is put out by the DCCC!.

I'm pretty excited by this.  Wetterling is a good candidate and deserves to win.

If Wetterling, of all people, "is a good candidate," there is no such thing any more as a bad candidate.

She kept Kennedy below Bush's numbers in the district in 2004.

Agreed.  Also, in a climate of suspicion and mistrust of Congress Wetterling has an almost unattackable record as someone in public life because her son was kidnapped and is missing.  Now that the Foley thing has blown up, she is clearly gaining traction.

Bush was more popular there than Kennedy.

She has an almost unattackable record because she has no record to run on, just the sympathy vote.
