“Oklahoma’s other U.S. Senator, Jim Inhofe, says he will not run for re-election when his current term ends in 2026.”

Thoughts on who replaces him?

She would be a frontrunner. Or maybe Jackson Lahmeyer if his primary challenge against Lankford fails.

I would rate Stephanie Bice and Markwayne Mullin as top contenders for this seat

I think it's the first time Mr. Snowball has ever been reasonable.

I’d say Bice will be the frontrunner if Inhofe completes his term, but Mullin would be appointed if he dies in office (at least before the next congress).

Mullin is in a part of the state with low Republican Party identification and low voter turnout. Bice is likelier but I'm not sure she's a great fit for the statewide primary either.

Stitt will be term-limited out and would be the obvious name if he wants it. He seems widely respected in the OKGOP.

2026 is far enough in the future that it's really hard to tell, and Oklahoma is a state that loves its random wacky self-funders that pop up out of nowhere.

There’s actually a distinct possibility that Inhofe does not live till the next election (he’s be 91)

This could also be said about Feinstein, Leahy, and Grassley.

Well Leahy and Grassley only have to hold on for a year, and Feinstein for 3.

Grassley is running for reelection, and it appears that Leahy will do so also.

Yeah, if Sitt wants this seat he'd run for it.

Don't rule out Mary Fallin running instead. She's broadly unpopular, but if she can make it out of a primary, she'd win a general election easily, and Republicans would probably back her, especially if Sitt doesn't run, and Inhofe makes it to 2026 (one or both Bice and Mullin might run for Governor instead).

One of the worst senators, who should have been retiring a long time ago already.

Candidate speculation as of today hardly makes sense. It's very possible someone we never heard of ends up winning the seat. Assuming Inhofe even serves out his term, which is far from certain with his age.

Yea he’s retiring at the end of the year, so a 2023 special election. Likely candidates would be who? Bice, Stitt, Lucas?

I'd bet on someone like Mary Fallin running for the Republicans in a special.

As for the Democrats..I guess Kendra Horn could run, but it probably doesn't matter who the Democrats put up, they'd lose by twenty.

Actually the special election is for this year, the same time as the other Nov elections. He's just leaving office in January so no one has to be appointed.

Fallin’s career is over. She left office very unpopular because of her education cuts and I’d be very surprised if she runs.
