Since another person will live in the Palácio da Alvorada in January 1st 2023, the truck collected Bolsonaro's personal objects. Some of these objects are works produced by artists who support Bolsonaro. Here we can see some of these art works

Unsurprisingly, it’s all very tacky and ugly art going out of the palace into that truck. Which is exactly what you would expect from conservatives lol

The national direction of PSOL (the Brazilian Linke) decided that its representatives will be part of the new PT (the Brazilian SPD) government supporting base in the Congress but declined to have ministers. This is a compromise decision between the wing which wanted to be really part of Lula's administration and the wing which wanted to be independent.

PSOL being awful as usual. Didn’t vote them for anything for the 1st time in 2022 and I plan to keep following this trend.

IMO, you either are dissent party that is a real left-wing opposition to the Lula government OR you fully join the government coalition in order to get a ministry or two and get to enact the stuff you want in practice, even if to a limited way.

They chose the absolute worst path that makes no sense, which is being part of government coalition without taking any positions in government just so that they can pose as a left-wing alternative LMAO. Voters aren’t dumb. PSOL is the kind of party that it never wants to be responsible of anything. They don’t want to win, as long as they get to keep their fake moral superiority and always bitch about whoever is in power.

I don’t mind them being part of Lula’s government at all but if you do it, you do it for real and TRULY be part of it, damn it. It would be good opportunity to actually do stuff for a change instead of discourse performance stuff.

PSOL is to the left what NOVO was to the right before fully joining the Bolsonarist vibe that makes them irrelevant. A bunch of people with strong ideological speech who are actually terrified about the idea of winning and being forced to do everything they say.

I get that PSOL wants to keep their independence and not go through the same path as NOVO but with Lula, as a way to keep their base alive. But in that case, you don’t declare yourself as part of the government, say you’re independent instead. It doesn’t stop you from aligning with the government in things you’re aligned and you can still oppose it when you think they’re pushing right-wing stuff.

I easily vote for PT, but not PSOL anymore, unless in a case of emergency.

New Datafolha poll asked Brazilians about their opinions regarding the Bolsonarist antidemocratic protests.

- 75% say they’re against such protests (21% in favor - which should be the number considered for that hard Bolsonarist base)
- 56% say the people involved in it should get punished

Between Lula voters:
- 96% are against the protests
- 81% are in favor of punishment

Between Bolsonaro voters:
- 50% are against the protests
- 29% are in favor of punishment

Between people who nullified or didn’t vote:
- 90% are against the protests
- 58% are in favor of punishment

It’s revealing in the sense that there’s an unshakable 20%-25% of society that supports anything coming from the far-right no matter what - which is strong enough number to establish yourself as protagonist of the right but in order to win elections you gotta not alienate the more moderate wing.

50% of Bolsonaro voters and 90% of non-voters don’t eat this radicalism up and I think they’re making themselves look like a joke at this point, which can create them electoral problems in the future.

Looks like a self-destructive logic tbh, to turn off HALF the people who are already with you while not attracting anyone new to your base. It almost makes me want to keep having Bolsonaro as the main face of Brazilian right instead of PSDB because there’s nothing that validates the left more nowadays than his existence and extreme positions itself.

For the left, I think it’s interesting to explore this 50/50 divide between the Bolsonaro voters, from the ones who are democratic and just dislike or are turned off by the left and ones who are truly anti-democratic fascists. They will eat each other up if it’s shown that Bolsonaro existence is counterproductive to their interests.

Geraldo Alckmin is a vice president who doesn't share same political views to the president, like Michel Temer, elected in Dilma Rousseff's ticket in 2014.
But unlike Temer, Alckmin became minister, besides his office of vice president. So, he became closer to president Lula. The consequence is that a parliamentary coup, like the one that happened in 2016, became harder now. The probability is very low.

Now that the election has passed, I can name the three jingles I heard being reproduced the MOST during election time. These are the songs that will be remembered as the hits for 2022:

“22 é Bolsonaro” - The Bolsonaro very catchy and fun jingle that became a trend after Neymar dances to it on TikTok when announcing his support for the election:

“Lula Lá” - The Lula reedition of his historic (and best) jingle from 1989. The lyrics are almost the same, but with some words adapted since in 1989 they were reference of many Brazilians being able to vote for the first time in that year. The 1989 version is still the best but this song will never stop being iconic:

“Tá na Hora do Jair já ir embora” - Not a jingle but this song became very popular between Anti-Bolsonaro voters, basically saying that’s time for Jair to go away. It was popular during the campaign and after results were announced:

Trump was a prophet when he spoke of the founding fathers taking over the airports in the Revolutionary War.

Usually, in the Inauguration Cerimony of the President, the sitting president transfers the presidential sash to the elected president. This is a symbol of the peaceful transfer of power.
But Bolsonaro won't transfer the sash to Lula in the Inauguration Cerimony on January 1st 2023. He will spend the New Year's Day in Trump's resort in Florida.

Who’ll transfer it? Morães? Rosa Weber? Mourão?

Probably it will happen like a cerimony of a reelected president. He will receive the sash from a member of the staff of the cerimony.

Bolsonaro has left the country and is in Florida now. It’s finally over, even if his term only really ends January 1st.

This moment was so anticipated, it’s kinda weird how it feels like an afterthought now.

Datafolha pollster asked Brazilians where they fit when forced in a PT vs Bolso aro polarized logic by giving a score between 1 to 5. 1 being very Bolsonarist and 5 the most friendly possible to PT.

These were the results:

1 - 25% (“Bolsonarists”)
2 - 7%
3 - 20%
4 - 9%
5 - 32% (“Petistas”)

None - 5%
Don’t Know - 1%

Putting 1+2 together, also 4+5 and 3+None+Don’t Know you have:

41% being friendlier to PT
32% being friendlier to Bolsonaro
26% on the fence

According to the media, his lawyers advised him to leave the country while he is still president. Presidents can be trialed only by the Supreme Court. An ordinary citizen (like he will be when he becomes a former president) can be sued by any local court.
