https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Capitol

The US Capitol is where legislation is debated and passed this is also where once a government is formed, the Prime Minister designate will give a speech detailing their agenda and plans for the country (think of this as a Queens Speech or a State of the Union, whichever word you prefer).

Nancy Pelosi State of the Union Address

My Colleagues, members of Parliament, and fellow Americans,

I can announce today that I have formed the strength to lead a government as your Prime Minister. This government will be one of change, of progress and of opportunity.

We will repeal the 2017 tax cuts in which over 90% of the benefit went to the upper class. The same tax cuts that cause our debt to skyrocket and make our nation a more unfair, unstable place.

We will act on gun control and ensure weapons of war are not out on the streets of America being used to massacre our citizens.

We will protect women's rights. This includes expanding abortion access through repealing the Hyde Amendment and codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law. This also includes taking action on domestic violence and expanding the Violence against Women Act.

We will protect LGBT Rights. This can be done through extending the Civil Rights act to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Pansexual, Queer and Transgender Americans all over the country as well as expanding existing hate crime laws and providing better financial resources for those looking to transition.

We will ensure a pragmatic foreign policy. We will reach out to our allies, not turn them away, we'll stand up to authoritarians, not ask for their help. We will strike a balance between over and under funding our military budget as well.

We will act on electoral reform. This includes, finance and redistricting reform, which must be moved to more independent means.

We will introduce a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants. We will reunite families separated at the Southern Border and end construction of the wall.

We will work for Police Reform. Especially in the wake of so many cases of unaccountability, it is important that these public servants have the governments trust. This includes deescalating arrests for minor drug violations and forcing greater scrutiny of problem officers.

And most importantly, this government will go to work everyday fighting hard for the American people. Whether you're young or old, black or white, gay or straight, poor or middle class, know that there's a place for you in this country under this government. The United States of America can do whatever it puts it's mind to. That's evident in this change of government and it will be evident in the months and years ahead.

Thank you and may God bless the United States of America.

The Centrist Alliance's five members - Representatives Kinzinger, Upton, Peterson, Katko and Fitzpatrick - will all be, as of present, abstaining from voting on this speech.

Are we supposed to vote on this? If so, the Centrist Alliance is voting NAY on this bill.

Also can any party introduce bills or only the liberals?

Well this is an oversight on my part, but here's a rule update: https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=438566.msg8276158#msg8276158

Also for future reference, can we keep OOC commentary in the interest/rules thread.

Also: even though the Liberal Conservatives and Centrist Alliance voted early, I'm willing to count those as actual votes when this goes to a vote.

Republicans oppose the Equality Act as currently written. We will always support respecting the human rights of everyone and oppose discrimination of any minority, including sexual ones. However, we do not believe that in doing so we have to deny other people their religious freedoms, which is what this radical left government is trying to do. We do not believe that there are citizens whose liberty is more important than that of others. We oppose this legislation and shall we be given the chance by the people, we will come forward in the next legislature with fairer legislation to protect the rights of those in a sexual minority.
