Menendez has slight advantage over Kean in New Jersey senate contest

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez has a slight edge over Republican nominee Tom Kean in the New Jersey senate race, according to a poll from USA Today/Gallup. Menendez has a 3-point advantage over Kean among likely voters and a 5-point advantage among registered voters.

Likely Voters
Menendez (D) 46%
Kean (R) 43%
No Opinion 9%
Sample: 524 Likely Voters
MoE: 5

Registered Voters
Menendez (D) 39%
Kean (R) 34%
No Opinion 13%
Sample: 890 Registered Voters
MoE: 4

Date: 9/27-10/1

Many of the recent polls show that Menendez has taken back his advantage, with a few showing a narrow Kean lead.

As I have said for a while now - it's a month out - and the undecideds are WAY too high.

High Undecideds are beneficial to Democrats in NJ, more so even than in most blue states. In 2005, Undecideds broke more than 4-1 for Corzine.

Oh, I know that, but it just makes it hard to be concrete (as possible that is).

Rush Holt, Codey, and Rob Andrews are scandel free so they cannot be senators.  Menedez, (I forget the name of Menedez's succeor) and Pascall are corrupt so they are happy.  Payne and Rothmen do not critize the mechice so they get a bone every now and then.  Pallone is anti-semetic ("There are too many Crist killing Jews in city hall").   Thomas Kean JR. will lose because he stturs and has an R next to his name.  WHAT IS WITH THIS STATE?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuh

Pascrell is corrupt? Never heard that before. Forgot about that quote but, he said that around his Jewish friends when he was a councilman I believe as a joke. They have backed him up on it.

Pascall was involved in some things eariler on, most of these things don't happen when they are in congress (though he is nowhere near as bad as Menendez or Albio Sores)

Why is Albio Sires corrupt? Because he is hispanic and comes from Hudson County? There hasnt been any media attention towards him? No ones alleged hes corrupt.

He looks Italian, a white hispanic with a non hispanic last name. Anyway, I wouldnt say those other guys pretend there is no Dem corruption in NJ, just that they acknowledge some Dems play part in corruption but that there are corrupt republicans too. Why would one of them say this anyway, "Oh yea us Dems are corrupt here in NJ." It's just stupid to say something like that.

I have never seen a quote from Sires and I live in NJ, so I dont know where your getting this.  Nor have I seen anything from the others suggesting the same.

No they have probably done so, because yes there are some. But you are suggesting because they dont openly say dems are corrupt too, that they dont recognize the fact.

But couldn't they say there is corruption on both sides publicly.

I am not saying that Sores, Payne, Lutenburg, or Rothmen are corrupt.

Just goes to prove than anyone can buy an election if they outspend their opponent 10/1 and run what was, at the time, by far, the most expensive Senate election campaign in US history.

Just goes to prove than anyone can buy an election if they outspend their opponent 10/1 and run what was, at the time, by far, the most expensive Senate election campaign in US history.

That poll was taken in November. There was no time for Corzine to suddenly spend massive amounts of money to win.

The actual result, for those who don't know, was:
Corzine (D): 50%
Franks (R): 47%

That shows how strongly Undecideds break Dem in NJ (7-2, in this example).
Also right before that poll was a series of polls that reflected this race.
