No, nothing blows Dies Irae out of the water. Some great songs are comparably good, but nothing beats it in a landslide.
Do you mean like church music or just any song written by a Catholic?
I was thinking of the former but honestly I can't think of any good music written by Catholics either.

I mean there was some exceptions like Bob Dylan and this but it wasn't until about then that consistently good music started being made.
You can say that earlier Rock, Jazz, Classical and Folk music (as well as genres from other parts of the world) aren't your cup of tea, but to write them off as bad is incredibly silly, especially given the level of artistry and complexity of many works that came before the 1970s.
