Liberal.    There is a fair amount of overlap between the LPC, CPC, and NDP--definitely not as polarized as the Republicans and Democrats in the United States.

It'd depend what sort riding I lived in and how it was expected to vote. Probably Liberal most places, but if I lived in a safe Liberal riding, or one where only the Liberals and the NDP had a chance of winning, I may vote NDP if I liked the candidate.

One thing I don't know about that might make the decision one way or the other is what the NDP's foreign policy and world view looks like. Maybe one of the Canadians on here can educate me. Do they have a "wink wink" solidarity with the authoritarian left in places like Cuba and Venezuela, for example? Or are they just Liberals with more of an emphasis on green issues and more hesitancy to get involved in conflicts abroad?

It would very much depend on my riding

NDP by default but if tactically necessary I would eagerly vote Liberal, Bloc, or Green

I don't like the NDP much, but I dislike every other party more so the NDP it is. The only situation in which I would consider a tactical vote would be in Quebec to vote against the Bloc Québécois, but given the wild swings that Quebec constantly sees it's unlikely that tactical voting would even be useful.

Largely Tories, but without much enthusiasm. I could see myself maybe voting PPC in certain ridings, but the party as a whole seems deranged, and could see myself maybe voting BQ in certain ridings, but I am still suspicious of that party given its intellectual heritage.

MPs vote with their party 99.6%* of the time. You're not voting for a representative, you're voting for a party under the mask of local representation.

NDP or Bloc depending on the constituency.

I would rather have Edward Scissorhands perform a colonoscopy on me than vote for the Bloc.

Would love to see what seat count UNS based on those numbers would produce. Probably something ridiculous.

Back of the envelope calculations, but:

The Liberals are basically wiped out, retaining seats only in Ontario (Don Valley, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Scarborough), Anglophone Quebec, and one seat in New Brunswick, for a total of 36 nationally.

The Conservatives are likewise devastated; they retain a seat in New Brunswick, a seat in BC, eight in Ontario, and a few in the rest of the country. They remain in a strong second in Alberta (nearly a majority of their seats are from the province), for a total of 29.

The NDP sweeps everywhere save Quebec, where they take only Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie. With 207 seats nationwide, they should form a government with ease.

They will have to contend with the Bloc Quebecois, which with 66 seats is the Official Opposition and larger than the CPC and LPC combined. The Bloc, with 11% nationwide, won 52% of the vote in Quebec and took 66 seats.

snip

For what is worth I decided to actually plug in proper numbers into a UNS calculator and this is what I got. Fairly similar, but the NDP wins a smaller majority and the Libs and Tories manage to beat the BQ for 2nd and 3rd.

And because this is Atlas, here is a map (in spoilers because it is too big). Seems like the Liberals still retain most of the Toronto metro area, while the Tories still retain their rural base in the prairies
