I would say FF on the aggregate, his posts are well reasoned and he seems smart which is really what I care about. Not necessarily endorsing his cultural/social/values positions although we probably agree on the general role of government.

I strongly dislike THG, but honestly, that's a bit unfair to him - you are mostly correct but the term 'antivax' may be a slight stretch. He claims to have gotten vaccinated, so he's not really anti-vax. I do agree, however, that he's annoying to when it comes to getting others vaccinated. Wouldn't quite call it 'anti-vaccine', but it's still annoying that he opposes any and all efforts to get more people vaccinated, and then when you try to point it out as bordering anti-vaccine, he gets defensive, calls himself 'pro-vaccine' and tells anyone who'll listen (and enough who won't) that he's gotten vaccinated himself. Still wouldn't call it 'anti-vaccine,' necessarily, but I'd prefer it if he stopped being a flip-flopper on the issue and just stayed consistently and coherantly pro- or anti-vaccine (can't have it both ways).

Anyway, HP. I hate how combative, vindictive and rude THG is. The 'Gentleman' in his name is very misleading, as he is loud and rude. He puts on a persona of being an intellectual but frequently resorts to petty name calling toward me when I express disagreement with him and his views, calling me 'insufferable' and a 'dullard' multiple times. I disagree with him politically, of course, but I still think his language and vindictiveness at the drop of a hat is just out of hand. He makes bold claims, like DeSantis will get a double-digit margin in IA, and never bothers providing any explanation or evidence. He insists FL is also gone for the Democrats without any real reason. He felt the need to strawman so badly he made an entire thread called 'REMINDER: Ohio and Iowa are not battlegrounds in 2024.' He's inconsistent on the vaccine, as shown above. There's also the fact that despite us both being Republicans (although I admit I am more of a RINO than Republican), I disagree with THG on mask/vaccine mandates (I support them; he opposes them), guns (I think some reasonable actions can be taken to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people and it wouldn't be violating the Second Amendment), the election and January 6, and a lot more.

Opposing vaccine mandates is essentially opposing vaccines. There is no reason to do so (yes, actual religious communities that don’t take vaccines have been around forever and we’ve all found work around) unless you are either indulging in anti-vax nonsense or a sovereign citizen tier nut.

Opposing vaccine mandates is essentially opposing vaccines. There is no reason to do so (yes, actual religious communities that don’t take vaccines have been around forever and we’ve all found work around) unless you are either indulging in anti-vax nonsense or a sovereign citizen tier nut.

Fair enough (though make no mistake - I support a vaccine mandate, I'm just not sure that opposing a mandate constitutes being anti-vaccine if the person in question is vaccinated themselves). Whether or not the label of antivax applies, I don't think THG's ever-changing and self-contradictory positions on the vaccine are a good thing.
