...would there be loads of awful Greenwald-like "anti-anti-Bush" takes and things along the lines of "I didn't vote for Bush and still don't support him but the Supreme Court's decision was actually really progressive" type nonsense?

It’s interesting yeah, I don’t really remember any anti-anti-Bush stuff from leftists back then, but anti-anti-Trump sentiment was of course very prominent on the left the last couple of years (Greenwald, etc.). Not really sure why that was the case. (Funnily enough, Greenwald was a big Bush and Iraq War supporter back in the day!)

The most amusing thing to me about Greenwald's whole "people who get too angry and deranged about Trump are basically just like neocons" shtick is that the closest thing to Greenwald during the Bush era were centrist wonk types who chastised Democrats for being so vocally angry at him and bashing him.

I can tell you one thing - 9/11 conspiracies would probably be trending before the towers has even fell, and we’d all be the worse off for it.

It’s one thing for conspiracies to organically develop in small isolated communities. It is quite another for a social media algorithm to AstroTurf them across the internet to a traumatised, grieving audience.

The Greenwald types would likely use this (https://youtube.com/watch?v=F9SOVzMV2bc) and this (https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4457913/user-clip-bush-arab-americans) to justify supporting Bush.

Where would we be now if Twitter came out 10 years earlier?

Twitter would've probably mass banned them and filtered them in just a couple weeks like they did with QAnon.

The 2000 election would've been that much more interesting.
