There have been two many Dems look strong for the MA's governor's race only to flop in the end.  It's 16 years of tradition and I'm not sure that it will end, Healey should be given more than a fighting chance

This argument is nonsense.  Ohio has had Republican governors for just as long, and look what's about to happen here too.

That's not exactly the best comparsion, Mitt Romney is not exactly Bob Taft, certainly Healey is in better shape than Blackwell

As well as Deano's point that Healey is actually doing worse than Blackwell, that wasn't really the point I was making.  Your argument that 16 years of continuous Republican administration in MA signifies a 'tradition' is ridiculous, even if you did say that you weren't sure if it'd now end.

It certainly signals a "pattern" if we want to be more exact

I would mildly favor Kerry Healey, though in all honesty I don't give a damn who wins this race.

I have recently become a Mihos fan. He is proving himself to be a great leader.

Ok, enough screwing around with Walter.  Wink  Healey seems like she has her act together.  I'd gladly vote for her. Too bad she'll lose.

Tradition doesn't mean anything in politics. It's all about the flavor of the month. When people go into the voting booth, they aren't looking at "tradition" they are looking for who is going to get what they want done. While the opinion of a Texan is rather irrelevant to the MA-Gubernatorial race...there is nothing you can do to convince me that a Republican in MA can swing 25 points away from a Democrat to make it close.

In addition to Tester teaching "how to win a senate race as a Democrat", Patrick should teach "how to win a governor race as a Democrat".

Winning a gubernatorial race in the most Democratic state in the country is hardly an impressive feat. I would rather give that job to Schweitzer or Freudenthal (if not someone who won in a state carried by Bush, at least someone in a competitive state)

There has to be something to it.  The last Democrat to win a Gubernatorial election in Massachusetts was Michael Dukakis way back in 1986.
