In February of this year, doctors at Mayo Clinic found small white spots called calcifications during a routine mammogram. After this was discovered, I had a biopsy at Piper Breast Center in Minneapolis, and then learned that I had Stage 1A breast cancer.

After a number of other tests, I returned to Mayo and had a lumpectomy on the right breast which involved the removal of the cancer. In May, I completed a course of radiation treatment, and after additional follow-up visits, it was determined in August that the treatment went well.

...at this point my doctors believe that my chances of developing cancer again are no greater than the average person.

Glad to hear it was detected early and treated effectively. Hope she is doing well. I know her husband had COVID last year and her father passed away recently, so she has bene through a lot.

I'm really glad to hear she's doing better. Friends with a Professor who recently had a short bout with a cancer as well, and catching it/working against it early seems to be key to having the best chance at health.

My oldest friend in law school, who served as on the Wyoming State Legislature, had breast cancer as a man 10 years ago. He's actually doing pretty well. She probably will be fine.
