Did anybody vote for Strom Thurmond outside of the south in 1948 and were there even any attempts by the Dixiecrats to gain ballot access in non-southern states?

In his excellent book about the 1948 election (The Last Campaign), Zachary Karabell noted that about the only state the Dixiecrats had success outside the South was in North Dakota because it was very easy to get on the ballot there.  Thurmond received 374 votes in ND (about 0.15% of the vote).

It was far too late and difficult to get on the ballot in other states.  Thurmond did get on the ballot in Kentucky and Maryland--states with some States Rights appeal--and he received very small shares of the vote there.

None to speak of because there was no point: Thurmond's goal was to win a few Southern States, prevent an electoral college majority, and extract concessions to protect segregation in exchange for Dixiecrat Support in the House Vote.
