According to Bob Novak, republican donors are supporting Lieberman in the hopes that he will switch parties if he wins reelection.

I wonder if even Joe could be this much of a turncoat.

He has no real reason to, especially after he's promised not to.  That would probably guarantee his doom next time.

Human Events is a well-known conservative publication and was Ronald Reagan's favourite read alongside Reader's Digest; I suggest we don't take their words for gospel.

Only way he does is if the Dems follow through on their promise to cut his seniority and the Reps offer to let him keep it.

I'm not saying Lieberman would be the best but at least he stands with our party more than Chafee does.

Why would he? He agrees with the GOP on ONE issue (two if you count violent video games as a real issue). That's why I don't understand the right-wing love for Lieberman. He is heavily pro-AA, he is pro-tax hikes, pro-heavy environment regulations, ect. He is basically just Liberal-leaning Populist.

This would be my dream come true.  Probably won't though.

It would be my dream come true as well. It would prove all of the Lamont people were right about Joe, and it would gaurantee that Joe never wins another election in his life in CT.

Which is EXACTLY why, of course, that Lieberman will never do this - b/c it would be impossible for him to ever survive another election. All of the republicans donating money to him are truly deranged if they think he is going to switch parties, and are flushing their dollars down the toilet.

Technically hasn't he already changed parties? Last I checked he was the featured candidate of the "Connecticut for Lieberman" party.

It's who you caucus with that matters, in effect.

this is more rediculous garbage... Lieberman is going to caucus with the Democrats. If I thought there was any chance that he would not, I would be supporting Lamont. He is and will always caucus with the Democrats.

Whether or not he switches parties, Lieberman will remember who supported him when it's time to cast votes.

I could understand him doing so but I'll be well miffed if he did. I'm rooting for Joe on the assurance he'll remain, if elected, a Democrat

He can always vote with the GOP on common interests, just as any other Democrat can from time to time

Yeah, the benefits of being a CT Democrat are obviously apparent from Lieberman's standpoint.

Lieberman is such a coward.

Does he really expect prominent Democrats to support him when he lost the Democratic primary??  Call me crazy, but I expect them to support the Democrat, not the Lieberman for Lieberman party candidate.

If Lieberman is elected again (which i don't think he will be) I hope he switches parties. It would fit his turncoat style perfectly.
