It is September 2004, the first Presidential debate. A terrorist bomb goes off in the room, killing both President George W. Bush and Senator John F. Kerry. The Republicans quickly anoint Vice President Dick Cheney to the top of the ticket, promising to carry on the legacy of the Bush administration. Cheney chooses Elizabeth Dole as his running mate. Senator John Edwards picks up for the Democrats. Edwards choose Bob Graham as his running mate.

Cheney is as capable as anyone to be President, however, he lacks the people charm to win a national race as the Presidential nominee.

A comfortable win for Edwards.

Edwards/Graham      325
Cheney/Dole             213

Although he's a capable politician, and probably one of the best in the Bush cabinet at the moment, in public Cheney comes off as someone you just cant trust.

He also lacks Edwards' charisma.

A comfortable win for Edwards.

The candidates very strongly parallel those of 1960, a young, charismatic, refreshing Edwards versus a experienced and reliable Cheney.

I'm predicting that Edwards would eek out a win.

I voted Edwards/Edwards many moons ago, but now thinking about it Cheney likely would have won.  National security was a huge issue, as we all know, in 2004, and voters probably would have "trusted" the mean aging Cheney over the nice young man in Edwards.

CVheney would be slaughtered, especially becaus eof the fact that his (and Bush's) administration 'allowed' the bombing to happen. Edwards with at least 350.

Cheney would win a landslide (the support Cheney gains from Bush's death would be much greater than the support Edwards gains from Kerry's death):
