I remember some here on Atlas saying that McCain would have been very competitive in the NE, he could have taken NY and NJ......

Some polls show him actually leading Gore in NY, Mayor Giuliani endorsed McCain and McCain campaigned with Lazio and Franks in their Senate campaigns.

If Gore did not pick Lieberman as his running mate, he probably would have endorsed Lieberman's Senate bid....
