Very surprised to see 'banks and other financial institutions" have a net positive rating...

Republicans have a negative view of education.

A rather contorted and self-serving way to interpret that question, do you not think?

Only positive things here are labor unions, k-12 schools, and universities.

Most large corporations and banks do more good than bad.

Some churches individually do good work. But The Church™ as an organization is generally bad.

Literally all of these have a net positive on society.
Remove any one of these institutions and I gaurantee you we will be a lot worse.

It's absolutely mind-boggling that Democrats have a net positive opinion of tech companies and the general public has a net positive opinion of banks. Where the hell did that early-2010s Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street energy dissipate to? So much for the new #populist Purple heart alignment.

On the other hand, the fact that more Republicans now think unions have a positive impact on the country than think large corporations do is heartening. It could be taken to mean that Trump did have at least some good influence on the way his supporters see how this country works--albeit in spite of himself and for the wrong reasons.

Nice to see the Republican shift against large corporations.

Meanwhile, It’s obvious that “break up big tech!!!!” Is not actually important to Dem voters. Sad.

The corporate media really brainwashed Democrats.

All of those institutions are problematic. Labor unions are perhaps the least bad.

Some churches individually do good work. But The Church™ as an organization is generally bad.

When I think of "The Church", as you phrase it, I think of corrupt megachurch or evangelical "pastors" or pedophile "priests" in the Catholic Church. You are right that individual churches do much good work-and this is particularly true of black churches, which have been a mainstay of the black community for generations.

So who is most likely to visit people in hospitals and nursing homes? Clergy. Obviously you are not talking about the televangelists, most of whom are suspect, at doing good.

All bureaucracies have their "snakes in suits"... or uniforms or clerical garb. Narcissists love bureaucratic work because they can live very well while only pretending to do work.  Such is the nature of bureaucracy, creating disembodied work in which functions are far divorced from productivity, innovation, and service. Bureaucracy is more about control than about anything else. It is useful for protecting assets and keeping subordinates or customers in line.
