Democratic-led congressional committees are vowing to press President Joe Biden’s administration on what went wrong as the Taliban swept to power in Afghanistan and the United States left scores of Americans and thousands who helped them over the years in grave danger.

The anger from members of both parties is palpable and will test an administration seeking to notch signature domestic policy achievements on infrastructure, health and social programs before next year’s midterm election. Several hearings are likely this summer and fall, plunging Biden's national security team into a bipartisan cross-examination that will be unlike anything they've faced during the president's first year in office.

All that other stuff about infrastructure bills and voting rights legislation will be forgotten -- intentionally so -- to make way for 15-16 months of Benghazi hearings.

Actually I think this could be a good thing.  We spent billions of dollars to leave an army and government that folded within weeks.  I'd like to know exactly what led to this because clearly there have been some severe mistakes and I'd like to see them held accountable.

Yes, this. Both Trump and Biden said Deep State U.S. government officials has been lying in 20 years re:Afghanistan. We have the proof. And now we have the ultimate living proof i.e. the situation in Afghanistan.

Should be a long jail times.

I doubt, there will be anything, though. Likely, just waste of time.

I'm actually fine with this. The Biden administration was clearly caught off-guard about how quickly the Taliban would take back over and how competent the Afghan government and military was. Something did go wrong and we should find out what it was. It may not necessarily harm him.
