In the 2016 primary, Trump ran a pretty moderate and very populist campaign, attacking the establishment of both parties.
How would 2016 and 2020 have turned out if he had run on the platform of/ran like he did in the 2016 primary?

Wisconsin definitely flips and Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Nevada are a lot closer. Unfortunately, this would give a lot more ammunition to the Stop the Steal movement however.

Attacking both parties is more or less what he did. He attacked opposition to himself and his movement within the party as president, but since he had already taken over the GOP, the attacks targeted Democrats much more. Also, if he didn't appease the social conservatives who made up most of his base, he could only have done worse.
