Thanks for the game Scott! You're underrated for sure - out of the opening I was pretty unhappy with my position. Obviously things were decided by an unfortunate blunder but had that not occurred I would have been getting nervous.

That was a surprising turn of events. I check the tournament about once a day to make sure any technical issues are resolved, and yesterday I saw the position at 19. Bf3. White had a solid position and it was a very competitive game.

It was right after that the tables turned. 19 ... Nb6 was a discovered attack on the c6 knight, but Nb6 was hanging and white had a strong reply: 20. Qb3! which forked the b6 knight and the e6 pawn. The deep threat was after 20 ... Bxc6, 21. Rxe6! attacking the bishop and queen. White was virtually certain to win material from the position once the dust settled. But discovered attacks are tricky, and this one was missed.

NewYorkExpress threw me off with the Two Knights Variant as White's response to the French Defense and made one critical mistake very early after, but played strong to the end.

With your win you would have increased from 1255. It's of interest since NOVA Green at 1278 and oakvale at 1281 are now ahead of you based on their wins in round 3. It doesn't matter for final placements, but since all three have 2 points it will affect who is paired with whom in round 4.

Technically there are three games outstanding. However Ishan did not respond to TimTurner's challenge so no game started. It's been more than 3 days since the challenge was issued so Scott can declare it a forfeit.

The two games still in progress are muon2 v bore and minionofmidas v AGA. You should be able to follow them by looking up the members on the club page under their account names, eg count-Y for me.
