It has a large percentage of White Cubans, White Venezuelans, Dan Marino, the former Miami Dolphins quarterback has a large base there; a lot of the Univision and Telemundo personalities are MAGA, so why isn't Miami-Dade a Strong R county as a urban county like Staten Island?

Almost as if there is an extremely diverse city with sizable Black and Jewish populations.
Not all of Miami Dade is Little Havana.

If anything it should be more D than it is. Younger generations of Cubans should be more liberal and less tied to the anti-communist politics of their parents. Urban areas have been trending heavily D in general. In fact it was trending D up through 2016.

Miami-Dade is more than just Cubans. The county is also more than just the city of Miami. There are sizable Black, Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Jewish populations as well. If anyone has the 2020 results for just the city of Miami, that would be helpful.

But basically, Miami-Dade minus Miami is quite a blue county in its own right.

Also it's not nearly as urban as Miami-Dade. Two totally different areas.

Dan Marino lives in Broward County and is also not a political figure.

He is a political figure, he donated money to Dan Quayle's PAC in the 1990s, he should be a staunch Republican, still.

Exactly. It is strong R compared to the rest of the city, but as a whole, it only went for Trump by 15 points, which isn't as 'strong' as many, many other counties.

There is a large black/Haitan population in that county as well, though that population isn’t growing in Miami like it was 10-15 years ago.

I don't live in the 1990s, I am just saying that he would be a formidable candidate. Both Elway and Marino would do well running for their respective state offices.....

That Miami Dade is not, what does that say about Democrats?Huh The mistake we make as analysts is thinking immigrants who’ve assimilated just forget about their home country. You can’t tell the story of Miami in particular without Cuban refugees fleeing their communist island. They’ve built Little Havana but it’s not the real thing

There are also a ton of Northeasterners, Jews, Blacks, Puerto Ricans and Gays.  Without Cubans it would vote like Brooklyn.
