Depends on how you define "recent."

For instance, fascism was very de rigueur in the 1920s and 1930s among young people, wealthy industrialists, and even a lot of intellectuals and artists.

We've whitewashed a lot of this history, but there was a large portion of Americans who liked Mussolini and Hitler and the things they were doing, up to the point where they started destabilizing Europe.
