Bush did beat him why else do you think Al Gore has gone off the deep end?

Technically, Tilden won in 1876, Cleveland won in 1888, and Gore won in 2000... I will hold that opinion until I die.

Okay, i dont want to get into the whole arguement again. i think thats been over and done with already.

What i was trying to say was the George W Bush could have beaten him in both the electoral college and popular vote had he run a better campaign.

It looks like I may have created a monster here (bearing in mind that I sort of started this trend of "Could so-and-so have been beaten in this-and-that-year?"-threads). I mean, we're seeing parody threads already. Cheesy

Agreed.  Al Gore has nobody to blame but himself for losing.  It must be pretty sad when your own state won't even vote for you.

John McCain would have had a comfortable win over Al Gore in 2000, both in the electoral vote and in the popular vote.

I will always hold that belief.

Suggested running mates for McCain in 2000

Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas (great choice in my view)
Senator Fred Thompson of Tennessee (home state of Al Gore)
Senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming (home state of Dick Cheney)

Wasn't Bush 3 or 4 points ahead in most polls going into election day anyway?
