Quote
Americans are hitting the road in droves for the long Fourth of July weekend and Republicans are turning to another tried-and-true tradition: blaming the president for high gasoline prices.

Prices at the pump have climbed to a national average of $3.126 per gallon, nearly $1 higher than a year ago when the nation was cooped up at home as the pandemic raged. But AAA is predicting a record 44 million people will take road trips this weekend, and Republicans hope they'll think of President Joe Biden when they fill up.

GOP operatives and lawmakers are ramping up their focus on gas prices, and rising inflation more broadly, to counter other areas of the Biden economy — such as jobs and wages — that are delivering strong gains for U.S. workers as they emerge from the pandemic. They’re hoping to blunt some of the political upside for Biden by highlighting the most visible product price across the U.S., one that’s long been a source of irritation for American drivers.

“People are paying more at the grocery store, at the gas pump, and when buying everyday goods,” Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel tweeted Sunday. “Rising prices under Biden are a hidden tax paid by every American!”

Didn't know that Biden has a button on his desk that makes the price of gas go up.

It's the same button that makes my pants drop.

Not sure how Republicans can complain of the price of gas going up when just a few days ago they were demanding the Infrastructure package be paid through a gas tax.

This is right out of 1984.  I know the idiot Republican voters will mindlessly chant this though.  That's also right out of 1984.

Don’t forget, when Russian ransomware hackers shut down a major oil pipeline and cut off supply for a week or so, the consequent price hikes (and apparent need to panic buy) was all Biden's fault.

The rationale is simple you see; the GOP has a special relationship with the middle-men in energy companies to lessen the markup during their presidency in favor of subsidies and tax breaks. No such relationship exists with the Democratic Party.

Such brazen acts of political pettiness by the middle-men is why nationalization of energy should be a no-brainer, as it is in several other countries who understand the risk putting the lifeline of an economy in uncontrollable private hands lead to.

I had a coworker of mines who told me that she heard a customer blaming Biden for the price of lumber at the store! I had another customer, who I had to check out, complain that inflation is why Trump should have been reelected. As I've said before, I live in one of the most Republican areas of a Republican city (Colorado Springs) and county (El Paso County).

Funny, whenever gas went up under Trump the Republican answer was 'no this is good it means jobs.'

Yeah he only went to FL, NV, WI, MI, NH and ME, I see a pattern ignoring oil and gas states TX, NC, OH, WVA, SC, because the high gas prices, don't you think that of D's were so competetive in TX he would visited the state, I was right yesterday, Biden/Harris aren't gonna competete in oil and gas states until 2024 when the Senate not the H is on the line when Brown, Tester and Manchin can lose and cost us the Senate Ryan, Jackson and Demings don't have to win to keep a Senate Majority, most likely 52/48

Gasoline prices being up a relatively small amount is a larger concern to Republicans than the 600,000+ Americans who died as a consequence of their Covid policies and rhetoric.

Maybe, but not on the up side. The price of a barrel of oil was starting to go down and would collapse in another year or two.

As I said before in OH, FL and NC where they have Senate races, the D's are blowng an opportunity to win them because they are oil and state, OH is a coal state, if D's get the gas prices down they will be competetive again, but no way D's win them as long as gas prices are up

That's why Biden skipped over them and went to FL due to the condo collapse and sured up 304 blue wall

That's why DeSantis and Rubio are safe, all of a sudden, being up 20 all of a sudden

Fracking causes global warming too, there was a fire being put out in Gulf of Mexico

But, who can we fault for the increase of Fracking, Reagan, Global Warming started when he was Prez, that's why I dislike Reagan, we saw what fracking did in 2010 and oil leak in Gulf of Mexico

None of this matters. Wait until next summer. I work at the airport in the hospitality business, it's crazy busy. Money is being spent right now. The 4th of July here in SoCal was abnormally over the top than usual years. Joe just needs to keep doing what he's doing. No one cares. Politics Twitter is way different from the real world.

It does matter, why is Rubio and DeSantis beating Demings and Rubio by 20 pts and the pipeline h ok t by Russia exploded gas prices, you know the oil and gas states are the key to holding the H and the gas prices are exploding

Biden skipped all those states except for FL and Biden only went to FL due to FL condo collapse

If there wasn't an energy crisis do you believe Rubio would would be ahead by 20, we are at 5.00 on Cali and Newsom is on the verge of being recalled

Cruz has placed a hold on all State Dept nominees until they come clean on Russia pipeline, it does matter, 5.00 gas prices might get Newsom recalled, he isn't safe

It's secret ballot, I didn't get my 600 stimulus, and he gave everyone else a stimulus, I might vote to recall Newsom

More like 1980. Raising the gas tax by 50 cents a gallon to pay for various programs was one of Anderson's major proposals.

This by no means bar D's, except, if the gasoline prices do go down we can compete in OH, NC and FL again but those states aren't must wins except for 2024/ where Biden will be hard pressed to keep Brown and Tester from loosing to keep control of the Senate
Gas prices will go down eventually, in time for 2022/ not just in 2024 we don't know, we have to wait

But, as said on news it's hurting Southern D's, that's why, as I said before Biden isn't selling his infrastructure in Deep South

People have been so cooped up because of Corona they don't even care. They're going on roadtrips, booking expensive hotels and flights, they just want to go somewhere.

I'd be a bit surprised if anybody who's swayable by this "attack" even voted for Biden in the first place.

Didn't know that Biden has a button on his desk that makes the price of gas go up.

What a surprise, Woodbury doesn't even understand such a simple concept as supply-&-demand, the latter of which for gasoline is now through the roof because Biden has actually managed federal policy in regards to the pandemic & vaccine-distribution in a competent manner since taking office, thus resulting in the economy now beginning to recover, thereby enabling people to need more gasoline for the road-trips & vacations that they can actually take now. How dare that evil, socialist, Marxist... *checks notes* ... Joe Biden(?)... *checks notes* ... undo Trump's pandemic-related cluster-f**ks!?

Oh, & Jon Ossoff & Raphael Warnock are the Senators from Georgia, so leave the forum for a year.
