American team (normal)

I always root for the American teams in ice hockey as a patriotic American, but given the perplexing anti-Americanism we've seen from Canada lately I am particularly disinclined this year to see a Canadian team win the championship for the first time in my life. Beyond that, while I'm grateful to Montreal for knocking off Las Vegas, it would be frustrating to see a team this bad win. The effusive praise that Bergevin has been getting for his skill in putting the Canadiens together has been bizarre considering that the team he assembled won exactly three more games in the regular season than did the Sharks.

I admit, I was hoping the Islanders would make it.

Since they didn't, I'm kind of apathetic.

Canadiens.
City hall of my town is now flying the flag of the Canadiens. There are four players who own a house in town.

Without the sudden reversal of fortune in the playoffs fan and pundits would have requested big changes, probably a new GM. Don't know if the owner would have replaced him. I think last year because of covid the playoff format was changed it allowed the Canadiens to make the playoffs (I think more teams got in). This year a record of 24-21-11 in the North division. Worst seeded team making the playoffs. The covid division format this year helps because two teams earned one more point in other divisions. The team lost the last five regular season games, trails Toronto 1-3 in the first series and all of a sudden finds a way to win games. So kind of unbelievable to have reached the final, always big underdogs. I guess the interim coach and GM keep their jobs now.

Habs for sure. I prefer teams from the traditional locations for their sports (hence my disdain for Western MLB Teams).

Sun Belt teams have no business in hockey.
