If Hillary won in 2008 and defeated Romney in 2012, who would win the 2016 GOP primaries?

Trump might not even be a Republican in this timeline. Zero chance of this happening. His entire political rise was a direct reaction to Obama’s presidency. It could not have happened under any other conditions.

More likely to be someone like Kaisch, Cruz, Jeb!, Rubio, Romney (depending on if he still lost in 2012), etc.

Posters should keep in mind that said Republican would probably be facing off against an Attorney General Obama in the general. That could have an impact on the kind of campaign that Republicans would want.

That said, I think Rubio would get the nomination. The mood would be Tea Party-ish.

If I were Obama and wasn’t chosen by Hillary as VP, I think I’d rather stay in the Senate than accept AG. That job isn’t as high profile and has never launched anyone to the presidency before.

Donald Trump likely remains a liberal Democrat if Hillary Clinton won in 2008, so maybe he runs as a Democrats ITTL?
