Is there any legitimacy to the secret service thing? I fail to see why he couldn't just have a security detail and be kept separate from the general prison population as has occurred with other high profile inmates with an increased assassination risk like organized crime figures or informants. Just seems like we give presidents way too much leniency sometimes. The Justice Department "can't indict the president" thing is so stupid. They are supposed to be citizen leaders not above the law and ultimately public servants

1). she is the judge assigned to the case (but please, correct me if I err)

2) The judge handling the case has communist background, which points to potential bias (especially in light of her other troublesome comments, such as her support for riots in 2020)

3). BRB - Potential bias in the overseeing judge = “So what?” … convict by any means necessary is your motto

She already ruled partially in his favor on the protective order, the government wanted it to cover all discovery and she didn't give them that. Trump wanted to apply only to sensitive discovery and she granted that. We'll see what happens this week with the trial date but while I expect she's not going to give him 2026, I doubt she goes with Jan 2 either.

This is going to be extremely important when considered against the case in Georgia.

That's because their defense is going to be "this was all attorney-client privilege discussion", while Trump's defense is going to be "I told my lawyers to tell me it was legal and they did, so I was acting on advice of council" which will blow all the lawyers defenses apart... unless they've already been found not guilty.

If the DC trials throws this all out into the open before any of them go on trial in Georgia, then all their attempts to game the system there will matter a lot less.

Regardless of what the various parties want and what is slightly better/worse for each side, it would definitely be fitting for the trial date to be January 6. And the courthouse in DC is only a couple hundred yards from the Capitol building.
