When he got the letter in the docs case, it was what like 2 weeks until he was indicted? Smith might be trying to beat GA to the punch here.

Has there been anything official? The claims of fraudster, sexual abuser, and criminal organization head Donald Trump obviously ought not be trusted.

It's been verified by multiple major news organizations.

All I'm seeing from news organizations are endless repitions of "Trump says...".  Trump says he's gotten a letter from Jack Smith. Trump also aid he was going to release his taxes. How's that going?

Is there anything on a docket, from the special prosecutor's office, even from Donald's own lawyers, etc?

Nothing will be filed publicly until he’s indicted. It is odd that the reporting is “Trump says…”, presumably he could show journalists the letter if it’s real.

The Independent is reporting that the indictment could come as early as Thursday: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-capitol-hill-indictment-timing-b2377451.html

Great! This will wrap up the GOP nomination for Trump now. The more times he's indicted, the stronger he becomes.

We are in uncharted territory. We have no idea how this will play out. Depends on strength of the case, and honestly the memes and sound bites and 30-second video clips.

But regardless of the politics, I’m glad the United States is finally moving towards equality under the law, accountability for everyone. It’s a sign of civic health.

Because the GOP is a party of abusers, criminals, and traitors.

I know we've all gotten numb to it, but it's actually insane when you think being indicted helps a candidate to secure the nomination. I couldn't imagine something like this in a Democratic primary.

Also looking forward to all of his GOP “opponents” falling over themselves to see who can defend him first.

Sources: Target letter about Jan. 6 probe caught Trump's team off guard

Quote
Donald Trump’s attorneys, including Todd Blanche, received the target letter from Jack Smith’s team Sunday informing them that their client could face charges in the investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election, two sources familiar with what happened tell CNN.

Trump’s legal team has not formally responded to the invitation to testify before the grand jury, which the letter provides, but it is largely expected that Trump will decline to do so.

The letter caught Trump’s team off guard, who had not been anticipating Smith to potentially bring charges this month, or against Trump. The letter indicates he could do so soon.

DeSantis on CNN

First question: “if Jack smith has evidence that Trump committed a crime, should Smith bring those charges”

Then Desantis starts talking about Alvin Bragg. He goes on and on without ever giving an answer to the question (and he was asked twice). I’m becoming more understanding of how DeSantis’ campaign has been going downhill

I think it’s the charges.. he’s not really facing murder, rape, or theft charges, which people would understand. The charges are either too complicated for the common man (Mar a’ Lago), are directly related to a political election and therefore provoke partisan reactions (January 6th & GA), or are just plain trash (Bragg’s case). There’s no real identifiable victim who suffered injury in any of the charges, unless you get real vague and say “The American people as a whole are victims!”

TIL that trying to overthrow the government and stealing government secrets are misdemeanors but getting blowjobs is a felony.

Cause all DeSantis can do is try to dodge these questions because if he answers “yes trump should be indicted” , his chances at the gop nomination would completely go up in smoke .

Michigan attorney general charges 'false electors' over efforts to overturn the 2020 election
Sixteen people forged documents and claimed to be "duly elected and qualified electors" for the state of Michigan, Attorney General Dana Nessel said.

Quote
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Tuesday that she has filed charges against 16 people who signed paperwork falsely claiming that President Donald Trump had won the 2020 election as part of a scheme to overturn the results.

U.S. presidents are technically voted in by slates of electors from each state who cast their votes for the candidate selected by their states’ popular vote. In December 2020, as Trump tried to overturn the results of the election, his allies readied alternative slates of electors in several states.

These appear to be the first charges filed against fake electors.

The announcement came the same day Trump said he has been notified that he is the target of an investigation by a Washington-based grand jury examining the Jan. 6 riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

The 16 people being charged in Michigan allegedly met in the basement of the state's Republican Party headquarters and signed multiple certificates claiming they were “the duly elected and qualified electors for president and vice president of the United States of America for the state of Michigan,” Nessel said in recorded remarks.

If DeSantis wants to be the anti-Trump candidate, then he needs to start acting like it.

People who are angry about a Trump indictment are already voting for Trump. He gains nothing by defending Trump every step of the way.

You wanna know why DeSantis and other Republicans are unable to give good responses to these Trump indictments, it is precisely because even republican voters who want to move on from Trump are responding like how you just did .

If we do IRV we don't need primaries at all.

I generally support ranked choice voting, but what you are suggesting would be terrible for presidential elections.   You can't just have everyone voting on dozens of possible candidate of all parties for president at the same time.  Voters don't have the mental space for that.  You need to give them a clear choice between a small number of candidates, and the primary process, for all its flaws, allows that to happen through a gradual process of winnowing the field.

The noose gets tighter. Good luck getting charged in DC, donald. Your freak Florida ''judge'' and a sympathetic jury pool won't be there to potentially save you.
