“Never happen under Trump”?  I’m sure I could find a list of protesters around the White House in 2020 who might disagree.

Do these jurors actually write a report? Or is the report just a bunch of forms they filled out?

It's an actual report.

In the Proud Boys's seditious conspiracy case today, the judge ruled that Trump's "Proud Boys stand back & stand by" statement from the 1st debate could be used as evidence that it motivated their actions.

Imagine getting jury duty and then having to write an essay on top of that.

AIUI, the DA's office essentially ghost writes the report, which the jurors then have to approve.

If true, then Biden goading Trump into making that statement was a real 5D chess move.

Barnett’s lawyer Joseph McBride told reporters outside the courthouse that his client had not received a fair trial, saying that Washington, DC, is “not a state” and made up primarily of “Biden voters.”

So let's make it a state- more Dems in the House&Senate and this guy gets a fair trial- win-win

If you don't want to be tried by Biden voters, don't commit crimes in a jurisdiction that's mostly Biden voters.  Seems fairly straightforward.

Oath Keepers members found guilty of seditious conspiracy

Quote
Three members of the Oath Keepers and a fourth person associated with the far-right militia group were convicted of seditious conspiracy by a Washington, DC, jury on Monday for their role in the January 6, 2021, insurrection.

The four men – Roberto Minuta, Joseph Hackett, David Moerschel and Edward Vallejo – were accused of plotting to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral college victory, a conspiracy that culminated in the attack on the US Capitol.

The convictions are another win for the Justice Department who brought the rare charge against members of the far-right militia early last year. After a 10-week trial this fall, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes as well as Kelly Meggs, a leader of the group in Florida, were the first of the group to be found guilty of seditious conspiracy.

Fani Willis told a judge that indictments in her investigation may be imminent. She doesn't want the special grand jury report released yet because her office has not has a chance to go through it, but she does not oppose it being released once charging decisions have been made.

Conservative activist Tom Fitton was in DC court today where the federal grand jury is meeting, and a prosecutor from Smith's office was also seen there. He has been an informal advisor to Trump and urged him to declare victory in 2020 no matter what happened.

He's also reportedly the main person who advised Trump not to cooperate with NARA or the grand jury subpoena in the documents case, which is probably the reason Smith had him summoned before the grand jury.  I know there's such a thing as "Advice of Counsel" defense, but Fitton isn't a lawyer; is there an "Advice of Idiot" defense?

Capitol rioter breaks down crying in court — gets hit with 68-month prison sentence.

A Marine Corps veteran who participated in the January 6 insurrection just received 68 months in prison — the longest sentence of anyone involved in the attack to date — shortly after giving a tearful speech to the judge trying to beg for leniency, according to POLITICO on Wednesday.

Mike Pence subpoenaed by special counsel overseeing Trump probes: Sources

Quote
Former Vice President Mike Pence has been subpoenaed by the special counsel overseeing probes into former President Donald Trump, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

It's not immediately clear what information the subpoena from special counsel Jack Smith is seeking, but it follows months of negotiations between federal prosecutors and Pence's legal team.

Smith was appointed in November to oversee the investigation into Trump's potential mishandling of classified documents after leaving the presidency and obstructing the government's efforts to retrieve them -- as well as a separate probe into efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

NBC news & NY Times are confirming. Times also confirms it's J6 related.

It might mean that Smith is getting close to going after Trump or Eastman.

It will be interesting to see if Pence tries to fight the subpoena.  I don't think he has any legal grounds to fight a grand jury subpoena, unlike a Congressional one.

Jack Smith is also narrowing the focus and speeding up the investigation of Trump, so a resolution one way or the other of Trump's legal future might be near at hand. Some of the urgency might be to avoid matters dragging on into the campaign season. Trump tried to start the campaign season early, but that ploy is not going to work.
