~10 million watched the hearing Monday. That's a huge audience for daytime.

Seems like some kind of a speech impediment. Age related maybe? If you put everything he says together it makes sense it's just coming out in a labored manor.

DOJ just requested, again, transcripts of all of the committee's interviews, says it's evident that some of the transcripts are relevant to prosecutions already underway.

We found out today that a confidential informant in the Proud Boys said that they absolutely would have killed Pence if they got the chance. We also found out that rioters got within 40 feet of Pence.

Luttig actually said some pretty powerful stuff (for example, he'd rather lay down in the road before letting Pence overturn the election). It just didn't come across that way because of the delivery.

If he had announced that he was rejecting the electoral votes of x states under his authority as presiding officer, it's not clear what would happen next or how we get out of that. Eastman is right that SCOTUS may have refused to hear the case because of the political question doctrine. Jacob may be right that the election would be solved "in the streets" if Pence had done that. No he doesn't have the authority to do it but no one could have stopped him and it's what Trump was pressuring him to do. I don't think we should minimize that he saved us from something potentially very ugly.

They were both really bad. I don't think we need to rank them. It's apples and oranges anyway.

What about just conspiracy? If they knew it was illegal and knew they would lose in court (and we've heard testimony for both) and try anyway, can't that apply?

We should also keep in mind convincing 12 people beyond a reasonable doubt it a much higher bar than we're applying here casually. But yes personally I'm convinced of crimes at that standard.

^ That's the closest link to Trump in their investigations that we know of so far.

Apparently Clark was on the street in his pajamas this morning because of the raid.

Also, Gaetz asked for a pardon.

Fox doesn't have this on by the way. Maybe earlier but they're talking about inflation now.

The raid on Clark's home most likely got direct sign off from Garland.

The speculation is that it's a reluctant witness so you go now. Must be big to get everyone back the week before the 4th.

I don't think it's Ali Alexander because he made it clear (Truth Social) that he only testified to the grandy jury because of a subpoena, and he said he told them he didn't commit any crimes and didn't witness anyone committing any crimes.

If it's Meadows then it's a damn good thing Garland didn't charge him.

That's good to hear. I think she's the best presenter of everyone we've heard so far.

According to CNN Live Updates, there's a group chat of Trump advisers.

"This is a bombshell. It's stunning. It's shocking. The story about the beast – I don't have words. It's just stunning," said one Trump adviser.

"This paints a picture of Trump completely unhinged and completely losing all control which, for his base, they think of him as someone who is in command at all times. This completely flies in the face of that," the adviser added.

"For the first time since the hearings started, no one is dismissing this," the adviser said.

Cheney said we're going to see evidence that Trump said Pence deserved it (the hanging chants).

She delivered!

I was pro January 6 before Trump turned it into a coup attempt. I would always watch the proceedings.

They probably embellished when they told her and she further embellished it in her mind over the last 1.5 years. I doubt anybody is lying.

I'm not assuming they talked with them about this specific issue since she might have just told the committee about it recently. I don't understand Tapper's tweets.

She's clearly not lying, but it's been a year and a half, she most likely doesn't remember his exact words, just the idea conveyed, which could be flawed because memory is very unreliable. He also doesn't remember exactly what he told her, and may have relayed inaccurate information to her, for the same reasons. It's entirely possible nobody is lying, or ever lied.
