Comedian Stephen Colbert announces he will seek the Dem nomination to face off President Trump. He clinches it with economic situation and issues (racial justice, COVID)  similar to OTL.

I think Trump would have beaten Colbert but could have lost to Jon Stewart. I think there’s an alternate timeline where Stewart primaries Bob Menendez in 2018, runs in 2020, and wins.

Really depends on the campaign Colbert runs. I would for sure give him a decent shot of winning the election. He could have had certain outsider appeal and would have countered Trump's attacks with brilliant rhetoric. The main question is whether he would have been able to present a positive and credible vision to improve people's lives and whether voters would have felt that he can get it done as prez.
