They're both small parts of a larger country where a majority of people speak a minority language.

I've heard Puerto Rico called the "American Quebec". But as weird as it sounds, I feel like an equivalent people group to French Canadians would be African-Americans or Evangelical Christians. In terms of the influence of a numerical minority that has had a large impact on the larger country's overall history, politics and culture.

Thoughts?

Yes, and they're also overlooked and maltreated by the country, but that's where the similarities end. Puerto Rico is also in a far better position to change that given the unique ethnic group + larger population, plus support from people outside of it, whereas Nunavut has a low population and low wealth, which means low power.

But those aren't under the jurisdiction of Canada

Actually Nunavut has one of the highest GDP per capita although cost of living is obscene as all food has to be imported so 3x cost in Southern Canada and housing a real issue.

That being said it is only province/territory where majority have a non-official language as mother tongue.

I don't see how somewhere as urbanized as Puerto Rico can be compared to somewhere as sparsely populated as Nunavut.

The only similarity is that their political status could be described as a territory. Nunavut is a territory because it's a vast wasteland that can only realistically be governed from Ottawa. Puerto Rico is a territory because it is a colonial possession of the US, and has a much larger degree of autonomy.

PR also speaks a language also spoken elsewhere and is widely spoken worldwide across dozens of countries.

You have? I've never heard it called that once in my life.

Last I checked, Nunavut is actually entitled to federal legislative representation.

Funnily enough, the Canadian version of West Side Story features a singing Inuit gang based in Mississauga.
