Sarah Palin enters the GOP field in late 2011,despite a rough stop she stays in the game gaining gradual Conservative support and sucking some away from Ron Paul.

Herman Cain,Michele Bachmann,Rick Perry and other minor candidates soon drop out near the beginning of 2012.Palin underperforms in the debates but mostly uses them to attack Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich. After a few more weeks Gingrich drops out and Palin carries most of the former candidates support.

While this is happening on the GOP side,Barack Obama has been contemplating replacing his friend and Vp,Joe Biden with former Sec. Of. State,Hillary Clinton and make Biden the new Sec.Of State and move John Kerry back to the Senate for a while and let them all contemplate a possible 2016 run.

Sarah Palin surprisingly picks up even more support and endorsements from many high-ranking Republicans, except John McCain who is reluctunt to do so an instead endorses current leader Mitt Romney.
Nearing the convention Romney,Santorum and Palin all stay in and in a very contested convention Palin barely comes out on top ahead of Mitt Romney and soon selects Rob Portman from Ohio as her VP which surprisingly comes with good feedback from many in the GOP and some moderates.

Obama shocked by this news then makes an announcement near the end of the Dem Convention that he has decided to swap out Joe Biden and instead have Hillary Clinton as the Vp,with keeping in mind that he would put back Biden as Sec.Of State.
Biden personally doesn't mind the plan and Hillary is thrilled but John Kerry is somewhat upset but this announcement does cause some outrage and spreads rumors that Obama is scared of Palin being the first woman to be a Presidential nominee and therefore selects Hillary and he  does slip somewhat in points but still has good ground above Palin and Hillary runs as his Vp.

Palin/Portman vs Obama/Clinton 2012

During the General Campaign Sarah Palin focuses on swing states such as Colorado,Ohio,Pennsylvania and Virginia and tries her best to bring in more moderates but the reminder of her stint as John McCain's Vp is constantly spun around by major news outlets despite Fox News trying their best to ignore it.

Obama on the other hand sticks to a message of "patented" Obama optimism while also squeezing in any attacks on the Palin camp, having Hillary especially focused on that front with a main message "that she is the more qualified woman".

In the 3 Presidential debates Palin completely collapses in spectacular fashion against Obama, failing to catch Obama off-guard and having those attempts back-fire with Obama using his wit to outsmart her "knowledge".
Portman does a bit better against Hillary, even getting her on a few occasions in the VP debate,Hillary controls herself however and puts in an OK performance in them.
After the Vp Debates,a saddened John McCain endorses Obama and says that he trusts him more to an extent, and "It can't be that bad for a 4 more years" and hugs Obama in Virginia at the endorsement.

Also while boarding a campaign flight during the night around 7 pm in Ohio,Palin slips on a step and almost falls over but thankfully Rob Portman held her back up.
Despite it being an unfortunate experience,it is circulated around the news and Palin is once again laughed at by mainstream media,as well as famed Progressive channell TheYoungTurks with only help Dems in the polls.

There's also some controversy as Palin runs a few campaign ads around the country, espcially in Florida about Obama's pastor,to which Obama denounces the pastor and the ads,and is quoted "I want to personally meet Palin and talk about this mess about these ads, they're hurtful".This helps bumps Obama down a bit but after a few weeks he recovers in Mid October.
There's also a plan in the works to make a sequal to the 2010 movie Game Change based off the current Palin campaign of 2012 with the same actors/attresses in early 2014.

Leading up to Election day 2012,the main map

Nevada : Obama 6+
Iowa     : Obama 5+
Florida  : Obama 6+
Pennsylvania : Obama 4+
North Carolina : Obama 1+
Virginia : Obama 2+

Ohio : Palin 2+
Arizona : Palin 2+
Indiana : Palin 3+

Both candidates are very confident coming into Election day but who will win ?

Ohio would not be leaning Palin in these circumstances. Nevada would be a bit more pro-Palin, as would Indiana.

Leaning Obama. Looks like it could be anywhere from a 370-168 Obama win to a 298-240 Palin win.

President Barack Obama (D-IL)/Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D-NY): 351 EVs (53%)
Former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK)/Senator Rob Portman (R-OH): 187 EVs (45%)
Others: 0 EVs (2%)

The closest states are Ohio, Iowa, Georgia, Arizona, Missouri, Montana, and Indiana. The Democrats also do a bit better in the Senate by picking up Arizona (Richard Carmona) and Nevada (Shelley Berkley) and narrowly retake the House of Representatives. This makes the first two years of President Obama's second term a bit more successful, which might allow the Democrats to hold onto Colorado and North Carolina in the 2014 midterm elections.
