I know it was not gonna happen but say for this hypothetical that Canada merged with the US in the 1870s. When do you think Quebec would have recieved statehood

I doubt it would have received it before FDR as neither a WASP-dominated Republican Party or Southern Democratic Party would have supported admitting a state like Quebec. By FDR though the Nothern Wing of the Democratic Party had enough power that it would admit Quebec

A peaceful merger would've required Statehood for all the Canadian provinces. The only way Quebec doesn't immediately get Statehood is if it's a hostile takeover rather than a merger. That said, either happening in the 1870s requires a considerable divergence from OTL.
