Shoot me, but I think England are going to do it.

At least, I hope they do, they are by far the most sympathetic of the teams still in.

Denmark, surely?

In "support the underdogs" yeah, I'd love to see them do it obviously. But I feel pretty positively inclined towards this England team in particular (far more so than Spain or Italy, especially after their outing against Belgium), and there's a romantic side of me that would love to see England finally do it.

I was referring in particular to the trauma that befell Denmark in their opening match, and the team’s magnificent response to it. They seem to be everyone’s second team this tournament.

I agree that this England side is fairly likeable; the core fans are as awful as ever, though.

Oh yeah, you're right - and the Russia game was one of the games I enjoyed watching the most so far.

But I wouldn't hold the worst side of England's support against them, and I can't think of a country for who winning would be more meaningful than it would be for England.

Basically either of the two and I'll be happy Tongue

Wow, I was blown away by our performance against what was, in honest, a Ukraine side that looked knackered.

Denmark is going to be an incredibly tough game. They already beat us at Wembley just over a year ago.

I can't belive England is going to win, I only support the team ironically so I have an excuse to stop following the tournament early when they get eleminated. Now that they're going to win i'm actualy going to have to chant "It's Coming Home". I want my money back frankly.

England might be the weakest team remaining in the tournament even if Spain looked worse this week. Just relax.

Both of these are going all the way to Penalties, I think.

The absolute and complete luck needed to escape in these evenly matched games is extraordinary. - no separation at all between the semifinalists. Even without getting a shot on net for 40-something minutes and having 35% possession, it felt evenly matched in the first 90 minutes. Spain probably slightly more deserving based on extra time, but the most deserving can't always win the big ones.

Thought the subs were premature leading to Spain's score but not totally unreasonable. We can argue about that on a day we don't go forward.

Harsh on Spain, were probably the better side over the 120 minutes. They really grew into the tournament as it progressed. Congrats to Italy though, have been the best side over the whole course of the competition.

What an extraordinarily dreadful match.

What makes you say that? I thought it was one of the best of the knockout stages so far. Very open.

Somehow an even worse match than yesterday. And an even less deserving team will be in the final. Yawn.

England were the better team on the day, but the circumstances in which they have gone through are so disgraceful. When even all the English pundit hacks are saying the penalty was soft, you know it’s a blatant dive.

What's the point of VAR if it does not overturn awful decisions from the ref on the pitch?

Oh my f-cking God, there were two balls on the pitch when Sterling took his tumble for the pen. Scandalous officiating.

How ******* blind does the referee have to be to not notice that there are two footballs on the pitch?
