I predict that Rhode Island will revert back to its roots somewhat this year.  Both Fogarty in the Gubernatorial race and Whitehouse will prevail.  The unique climate of the year: anti-Republican and by extension anti-incumbent, means that both Chafee and Carcieri, who are both moderates with acceptable records, will lose.  In another year, both would be acceptable and could expect to win.

A recent poll on RI, Fleming had Chafee up, so I wouldn't count him out just yet. I think that Whitehouse still will face an upfight against the moderate Chafee.
