The media are now all reporting Barnaby has won back the leadership per sources, with the official announcement expected imminently.

Edit: Damian Drum makes it official. And this means Barnaby will be Acting PM for Question Time.

Tuesday Protests against mandated vaccination of construction workers.

Monday Protests against the same thing outside the headquarters of the CFMEU.

Then the Police shot rubber  unless at both sets of Union members.

ABC News summed it up well:

"Victoria's construction industry has been forced to shut for the next two weeks.

With some estimates putting the cost above $2 billion, it's a supremely expensive example of adults being told to do something, not doing it, and then – in shocked disbelief at the injustice of it all – being sent to the naughty corner."

Poor 'ol Gladys. Love that woman.

Left exposed by dubious love interests, a perfect example of a dedicated woman caught up in the sleazy world of NSW politics.

"Federal frontbencher Marise Payne once described Ms Berejiklian as “having a brain the size of a planet”.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-01/nsw-premier-gladys-berejiklian-political-obituay/100507130

First paragraph is wrong in that article. Gladys wasn't the first female Premier.

Notice ICAC never once went after a Labor Premier. Keneally had the "Eddie Affair" and that was 10 times worse.

We've lost a champion public servant.

She will make a fortune in the private sector.

Media Watch looks at Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Barnaby Joyce regarding their intention to restrict social media.

https://www.abc.net.au/mediawatch/episodes/social/13580000

Long overdue. Facebook needs to be restricted massively.

I guess you could argue that it has simply unleashed humanity, but either way, both need to be put back in their box.

Yeah, I was just watching a guy playing NFL on Facebook (like Twitch) and he was a de-evolved version of a human with AD-HD. Swearing and making racist comments about African Americans. Disgraceful.

Nothing good was going to come of the situation.

Facebook has gone to the gutter. It's like buskers in a city. Someone from the council comes around and screens out the bad ones like in Perth.

Peter Dutton is engaging in a lawsuit against a random guy on Twitter right now.  A preview of what is to come.

Peter Dutton has a pretty strong case. The guy called him a "rape apologist".

Ultimately, these people have families and psychos with South Korean plastic in their hands need to be held to the same level of account as the speaking public

Facebook and social media have enabled some really unhinged people to attack politicians voraciously. These are not well people and they get worse.

It will be interesting to see the outcome.

Australian media is the peak of confusion. We need a Government enquiry into the extremely low quality of our media during the COVID pandemic.

Every parent's worst nightmare. Two young children missing in Western Australia.

1. Cleo (Four y.o.)

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-16/missing-4-year-old-girl-sparks-seach-wa-carnarvon/100544980

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-17/search-for-missing-4-year-old-girl-continues-wa-carnarvon/100545576

2. Unnamed (Eight y.o.)

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-13/walpole-search-update-day-four/100536314

Both pretty dire situations.

That would be heart breaking for the parents who will face years of grief for a momentary lapse of supervision, if at all.

I feel sorry for the brother in the second case. A  cry for help that will haunt him for life.

I hope Gladys come out of this squeaky clean.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2x6RchOjg0

She would be gold at a Federal level. I think her personality type is one of high integrity. She just reminds me of those really straight girls at high school who never had a boyfriend and got 100% on their exams.

The biggest child disappearance case in Australia since Azaria Chamberlain:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-21/cleo-smith-reward-offered-for-missing-girl-carnarvon-info/100556756

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-21/cleo-smith-disappearance-what-we-know/100556400

Simply devastating for the parents after the Police have come out suggesting it looks like a remote area abduction.

Joyce has for a while struck me as the type who might lead a semi-successful minor party that has his own name in its name. Which is not without precedent in Australia. Maybe this will be the trigger for it.

These "name" branded parties like Pauline Hanson and Clive Palmer are really hit and miss.

Mostly miss.

Gladys could be in trouble here:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-29/nsw-gladys-berejiklian-gives-evidence-at-icac/100579164

We might be seeing the end of a stellar political career. Yesterday, she said she was going to "throw a lot of money" at her secret boyfriends electrorate.

Hard to imagine her coming out of this without issues. This Daryl Maguire is a piece of work. So unfortunate that he used the relationship to his political benefit.

Incredibly sad story with a huge manhunt underway looking for a car on the West Coast Hwy at 3am in the morning near Carnarvon.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-30/police-focus-on-locations-central-to-cleo-smith-disappearance/100573046

Unless they have CCTV from trucks and satellite video of the area, this case is going to be hard to solve.

Most incredible news.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-11-03/cleo-smith-found-alive-by-wa-police/100589612

Cleo Smith has been found alive in a locked house in the closest town, Carnarvon, 75 km to the south of the blowholes.

When I first heard she disappeared, I thought she got up early and fell off the cliffs. But when the sleeping bag was missing, it became apparent someone had taken her.

This event has been incredibly stressful for West Australians, a media circus, and there will be a giant sense of relief and a few tears across the state today. I have a sense of elation for the parents who must have experienced pure hell for the last 18 days including being accused of her disappearance on Social Media.

"One of the officers picked her up and asked her, 'What's your name?"

She replied: "My name is Cleo."

Video of the rescued girl: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-11-03/police-release-video-of-the-moment-cleo-smith-was-found/100590674

Hollywood will make a film about this. It is the most amazing story and outcome.

So we are likely talking about an abduction?

Good question. Very timely.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-11-04/cleo-smith-charges-laid-against-carnarvon-man/100592332

Charges of Child Abduction have been laid against Terence Kelly, 36 years of age pictured here on Social Media with some Bratz dolls in his house:

And this is his doll room:

According to CNN who wrote about the 1am rescue:

"Police said Cleo was found in a room in the house with the lights on, awake and playing with toys; they are yet to interview the girl, but specialists have arrived in Carnarvon from Perth to do so."

"Before charging the suspect, police said they believed he acted alone and "spontaneously." The man was arrested on Wednesday and had been taken to hospital after self-harming while in police custody, Western Australia Police said."

This isn't funny anymore.

Victrian Health Minister Martin Foley had t call in the bomb squad after a suspcious package was found. WA Premier Mark McGowan's electorate office had to be shut down because of threats made agast his staff. Protestors marched with gallows in Victoria and threatened to lynch Victorian Premier Dan Andrews.

I think Mark McGowan is moving his family out of their home following two young men threatening to behead them.

https://www.watoday.com.au/national/western-australia/wa-premier-s-security-beefed-up-amid-growing-threats-from-anti-mandate-protesters-20211124-p59bp7.html

The internet has created these angry young political activists who band together on internet forums developing anxiety about each other's political beliefs and the manner in which they express them....oh wait.

Well that's not good:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-12-02/wa-nationals-mp-james-hayward-charged-child-sex-offences/100669446

I didn't know whether to put that in the crime thread or this political thread, but seeing as Barnaby's name is in the title.

This is crazy news in WA at present.

COVID in Australia has been a media virus. WA is peaking in numbers at 12,000 per day, but we have never been more relaxed.

The media have stopped reporting it. Back when the media was going nuts and Perth had zero cases, we all went freaking mad over 1 case and shut the city of 2 million people into lockdown.

It's just been pure insanity in retrospect and the media have a lot to answer for in terms of their alarmist approach during the pandemic.

I am surprised that Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews could put up with the media scrutiny.

Regardless of your opinion of him, no amount of money is worth that role over the last two years.

A man of pure resilience.

Jewish Victorians not happy with the auction of Nazi war memorabilia:

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/melbourne-based-online-auction-of-nazi-memorabilia-draws-outrage-20220603-p5aqti.html

Victoria now has a law that bans the public display of the Swastika.

They are now looking at extending that to the ownership and/or sale of Nazi memorabilia.

That will just drive the price through the roof and make those items of the 3rd Reich more collectible.
