There is a certain logic to this map.  It contains only a certain type of person voting.  If we limited voters to a certain group, it would produce a map along these lines.  Can anyone guess what group it would be?

Do we guess who's voting Republican and who's voting Democrat, or just one of them? Maybe the blue states are states where the largest minority is African-American, and the red states are those who have a larger Asian (or maybe Hispanic) minority.

Hispanics vote more Republican than blacks

Only white women vote maybe?

Is it race related, religion related, or gender related?

Maybe it's only Catholics voting?  That would explain why states with large Hispanic populations are going for the Democrats.  It would also explain why there's a roughly even divide between "red" and "blue" states, as Catholics are a swing group that doesn't go overwhelmingly for either party.

True.  And actually, I don't know what I was thinking when I said it was evenly divided between the parties.  Clearly it tilts more towards the GOP, since the Northeast is all Republican.

Maybe it's all churchgoers?  Churchgoers are more likely to be Republicans, except maybe where there's a large Hispanic population.

Or maybe it's something to do with immigrants?  (Don't know if *all* immigrants would make sense, as I doubt immigrants en masse tilt that much towards the GOP.)

Socially conservative white surbanites don't vote Democrat anywhere as far as I know, and definitely not on the West Coast.

Anyway, this is impossible to guess so I would prefer the thread starter just tell us. Sad

It's not based on the CNN exit polls, at least.  There's nothing that Colorado is D>50, Washington is D>60, and West Virginia is R>60, that I can find.

True, but I think Winfield was trying to suggest the white suburban vote and saying the conserative part to show why more states were GOP.  Then again its Winfield so who really knows what he was trying to suggest.  Either way the suburban vote, the white conservative suburban vote or whatever makes no sense.

That wouldn't make sense in the Southeast.

The Dems aren't going to sweep all the western states, Jon Kyl is going to win easily reelection. As for NV Gibbons is going to win the governorship. It is hard to sweep all the western states. And having McCain being in the presidential race it doesn't bold well for Dems in AZ. The Dems lost AZ by 10 pts. And the state isn't one of their top tier battlegrounds. Maybe NV but not AZ.

This is a hypothetical map involving a certain group of Presidential voters.  Senate has nothing to do with it...

Yes, but if Olawakandi didn't divert and use random facts that made no sense, it would be the end of the world Smiley

AZ was conceded to the republicans in 2000 and 2004 and the Dems lost it by double figures, and do you think that AZ is going to the Dems and McCain is running, it didn't go in 2000 and it ain't going this time.

He's not talking about this being a possible map at all, mate. If you notice in the first post this map shows the votes of a specific group of voters only.

Yes, you obivously missed the point that Overton doesn't make sense or adhere to the question at hand
