What’s really insane is that Ford basically still wins all the states he won by over 5 points in OTL witn this map with the exception of CT

A southern democrat wins this year but the math just wasn’t there for Mondale to win even in 1982 given that California republicans did pretty well in 1982 and even flipping NJ from here isn’t enough for Mondale to win .


1986:



Iran Contra wasn’t really revealed till after the election so HW still wins easily but I don’t think crime is as big of an issue in 1986 as it is in 1988 so Mondale flips IL , MD and PA imo

1990:




Perot doenst so anywhere near as good as OTL plus many Reagan democrats who returned to the democratic fold for Clinton wouldn’t in 1990
