Apparently, Trump was planning to execute a military strike on Iran in early 2020, but was convinced otherwise by some of his staff, along with other figures such as Tucker Carlson. What would happen if this did happen and it escalated into war?

Repeat of Gulf War 2.

Those who pretended to vote for Trump because "he kept us out of wars" would suddenly rediscover their neocons roots.

Iran is FAR larger and more powerful than Iraq ever was. Also, you're neglecting that the war would happen right during the first wave of COVID, which struck Iran awfully hard.
