Very random question:

did the sons, daughters, grandsons, and granddaughters of carpetbaggers who came down south from Vermont and Connecticut and maine continue to vote GOP like their wealthy Yankee dads, or did adopt the hardcore democratic preferences of the white southern population as a whole?
