I'm curious as to where the RNC will be held. Crazy to think it was held in Midtown Manhattan as recently as 2004. That would be a nonstarter with Trump.

The Republican National Convention is scheduled for Aug. 24 to Aug. 27. McDaniel mentioned Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Texas and Tennessee as possibilities – in that order. (2020 RNC)

I think RNC could be held in Oklahoma City, Jacksonville, Fort Worth.

Somewhere in Texas. I’m not convinced the convention location really matters at all, but Dems should do everything they can to gun for Texas.

Atlanta.  If you win Georgia, you win the election.

Atlanta, with 2nd place and 3rd place going to Houston and Phoenix respectively.

Plus if Stacey Abrams is governor of Georgia by then, she could give the keynote address, likely making her the dem frontrunner for 2028 assuming the republican wins in '24.

Atlanta's a good choice for the convention, but technically this map is possible

Still if Georgia goes (non-Atlas) blue again, there's a greater than 80% chance Biden (or Harris) wins in 2024.

For the Dems - Nashville, Atlanta, Phoenix

For the GOP - Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami

Out of the ones on that list, Atlanta is the obvious choice. Although, Milwaukee should probably get to host since COVID took it from them.

Pittsburgh and San Antonio would also be really good choices.

For the GOP - Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami

Those are my exact top 3 for the GOP, but the rank would be Miami, Las Vegas, Dallas.

Oh, Atlanta is definitely the top contender. Not only flipped blue for the Presidential election, but then sent two Democrats to the senate right afterwards.

Conventions aren't actually meant to help the party do better in the hosting state, even if that might be what the parties tell themselves. They're chosen for messaging/ signaling purposes (or because the city made a convincing pitch to the party's central committee that they could best meet their amenity needs that year). Atlanta is the perfect symbol for the ascendancy of the new Democratic coalition.

Raleigh, North Carolina. NC is less out of reach for Democrats than Texas and has a good chance of flipping. The rural areas which have acted as a counterbalance to urban Democrat trends in the state are maxing out. Blue NC is coming back sometime in the near future and the state has a decent chance of voting to the left of Wisconsin, and maybe even Pennsylvania.

If nothing else, looking at Milwaukee again as consolation for its downsizing last year should be seriously considered.

Houston, only to showcase how diverse it is as an attractive prospect.

However Atlanta seems more likely.

Milwaukee & Atlanta seem like the only choices that make sense. Milwaukee because they got hosed last year & Atlanta as the symbol of the "new" Democratic electorate.

Also, I find it laughable that folks are putting so much emphasis on electoral benefit in considering convention location. I thought the 2016 DNC would've slammed the door on that theory.

Phoenix, AZ, it really doesn't matter anymore where the Convention takes place

Atlanta or Phoenix, easily. Though in the end it still doesn't matter.  That's why I'm not saying Milwaukee in addition, though I do understand the thinking behind holding it there for real this time.
