Relatively easy to find communes on Corsica won by any of the top 8 candidates (Macron, Le Pen, Melenchon, Zemmour, Pecresse, Jadot, Lassalle, Roussel) -- all have multiple places where they won -- but then it kind of amusingly cuts off. Nowhere voted for NDA or Hidalgo (or Poutou or Arthaud, I guess).

EDIT: Found a commune which voted for Hidalgo (though not on Corsica) -- Rouze in Ariège.

By good FP I mean he’s  the only president not to hate on America when we do stuff but then expect us to be a sugar daddy for them .
You're right. They should've paid their debt and sent French soldiers to die in Iraq. How dare they criticize us for starting a war based on lies?

Holy F nationalism is dumb

France and Germany literally tried to form an alliance with Russia in 2003 so it just wasn’t about sending troops . They were explicitly anti American at that point and treated us as we were the villains  guys in Iraq rather than Iraq just being a mistaken intervention

How is this even offensive. Not everyone has to be as jingoistic and apologetic as you.

We provide for their defense so at the very least they should refrain from hating us

Cotes-d'Armor (located in Brittany) is tracking well with the overall national vote.

Saint-Pierre and Miquelon 🇵🇲 goes for Mélenchon a bit more than last time:

2022
Mélenchon 40.91%
Macron 19.77%
Le Pen 16.99%
All others are below 5%

2017
Mélenchon 35.45%
Le Pen 18.16%
Macron 17.97%
Fillon 9.92%
Hamon 8.24%
All others are below 5%

New Caledonia 🇫🇷/🇳🇨 has a lower turnout than last time; I haven’t delved into the numbers, but I suspect that Kanak areas probably had worse turnout that before.

2022 - total votes for candidates: 72,967
Macron 40.13%
Le Pen 18.83%
Mélenchon 13.77%
Zemmour 9.13%
Pécresse 5.88%
All others are below 5%

2017 - total votes: 86,942 (might be off by a couple voters)
Fillon 31.13%
Le Pen 29.09%
Macron 12.75%
Hamon 9.34%
Mélenchon 8.86%
All others are below 5%

Would be interesting to create a map of the swing in first-round support for or against Macron (who obviously gained 4 points overall, from 24% to 28%, so it would mostly be a swing to), and see if it supports DFB's class-based theory of a slide in working-class areas drowned out by a large swing in favor in wealthier areas.

In Var and Alpes-Maritimes, Zemmour is getting 13% and 13.2%, respectively; this is roughly double his national percentage. Makes sense he does best here (many Pied-Noirs ended up here).

At some point the Americans will colonize everything when they have an opening in English to do so, the signs were there for years now.

Cotes-d'Armor (located in Brittany) is tracking well with the overall national vote.

It'll get more Macron - like most of Brittney just base on what we have seem previously. Most of the places with big uncounted areas right now are populous ones favoring Macron. And the Breton provinces are well more LREM than the nation.

Looks like a lot of Melenchón voters are rejected his call for no vote for Le Pen.

In a psephological sense it's a shame we won't get to see a Pécresse vs Macron map that would have exposed interesting cleavages. Instead it seems Macron is now firmly the centre-right of old.

In 2017, local favourite son Fillon won Sarthe with 29%. So far, Macron is at 26% there (up 6), Le Pen at 34% (up 13) and Pécresse at... 6% (down 23).

When all the votes are counted - which place can we expect to track best with the overall national vote?

Take the polls with a huge grain of salt. In the first round, many voters concentrated their votes in Macron to block Le Pen from coming on top. Close polls like these for the second round could motivate non 1st round voters to get out and cast a ballot for Macron.

Of course. But that does not invalidate my statement about Melenchón voters if this poll is anywhere close to being accurate.

If Pecresse could expect a native daughter effect anywhere, it would probably be in Yvelines. She has 8.2% there, with 44 of 259 communes reporting.

Old story of intense levels of illegal immigration from Comoros, which does put some genuine pressure on the local infrastructure, blamed on rising crime, and is a source of pretty major tension. This gets coupled with a sentiment of neglect from the mainland. For instance, the response so far has been basically to send in the riot police with no genuine attempt to relieve the pressure (ie invest in local resources or make it possible for the Comorian migrants to head to the mainland. There are deportations en masse, but the geographical nature of the whole thing makes it not a viable long term solution).

No. France is the strongest military power in Europe and probably the most intervention-happy. If you want to whine about anyone, whine about Germany. Except apparently not anymore...
