1972 Election

George McGovern/Shirley Chisholm:310, 38,551,158 49.4%

Richard Nixon/Spiro Agnew: 228, 38,223,462 49.0%

I'm almost certain this is the ceiling for McGovern on Cakewalk mode. Maybe you can expand into Alaska (decided by 3% in my game, but considering how carefully I had to balance campaigning in New Jersey, West Virginia, Hawaii, and Delaware (all decided by less than 1.5%) to win, I'm genuinely not sure if it's possible.

You won all those AND the popular vote with Chisholm? Impressive. I thought I hit the ceiling with Askew. Highly doubt your map can be topped though.

Chisholm has a question near the end which boosts turnout when Nixon makes a racially derogatory remark towards her and you can make a speech defending her that either flops or boosts your campaign just enough to get over the finish line in New Jersey and Delaware. However, I'd definitely say she's high risk, high reward. This was essentially a perfect run where everything went right.

I did my worst as Donald Trump in 2020 lol.

Biden won with 437 electoral votes to Trump's 101, and the popular vote 59.4-39.2%.
Below I included a map with statewide results. Shading, obviously, indicates margin, and if you hover over each state I've listed the result to the nearest point. Biden won 34 states. (Also, I had to guess on the congressional districts for ME and NE since they don't show congressional district results in the game.)

Is there a new link to this game? I haven't been able to find 1972 or 1984 are the link which was originally posted in this thread.

You have to pick 1984 from the Mod Loader in the bottom right corner.

1972 currently has to be manually loaded from a link in the subreddit. Look earlier in this thread for guides on how it works.

Has anyone won as Hoover 32' on Normal? Have managed to get him to c. 240 electoral votes and 45% of the vote (Hoover/Wadsworth), but I keep falling short of a handful more states to win.

This site is all sorts of messed up for me. I can't find 1992, I tried playing their GA-GOV game and ended up with 2016-PRES, and when I tried to play 1996, I ended up with 1960.

I suck at these, though. I've never won a game above easy level. President Infinity is a lot more winnable for me, but their games also take way too much time.

That’s normal. All you have to do when the game first loads is click the button that shows the map, then hit the button that takes you back. The correct candidates/questions will then load. The reason it does that is the mods are built off one of the base campaigns; the assets for that campaign load first so you have to “refresh” it like this to get it to show up right.

There is now a campaign available for every single election from 1960 through 2020 by the way. (Although 1972, 1992, and 2008 currently only have the Democratic candidate playable.) Pretty impressive work in a pretty short span of time. I was very pleasantly surprised to see this was a thing as I thought I was one of the few people on Earth who was a fan of the original game, and had lost hope it would ever be expanded to its full potential. But turns out a whole community of people who know how to code had the same niche interest, which is pretty awesome.

Many of the early 20th century elections (including basically all the ones that were remotely competitive and/or interesting, except 1912) are also there. And even several 19th century elections are there plus 1796. Right now almost all that’s missing which I’d really like to see are the Andrew Jackson elections, 1864, and the Reconstruction elections (especially 1876). Plus 1912, which is maybe at the top of my wishlist now. That and 1824 could be especially interesting due to the fact that they had more than two strong candidates, but that might make it more difficult to mod. 1800 could also be interesting but maybe even more difficult to simulate.

Since they’re expanding to things like GA-GOV, more close statewide elections like KY-GOV 2019 and FL-SEN and TX-SEN 2018 would also be cool. Some historical nailbiters like KY-SEN 1984 would also be cool.

Sadly you can’t bookmark it the same way. I just take screenshots.

I have a good feeling that most elections will be playable through mods by this time next year. There was also talk of a national US Senate 2020 mod but that unfortunately seems to be cancelled. I wonder if they'll even make mods of international elections.

I'll just say how to play mods.

Step 1: Don't open the game. A lot of people probably make this mistake. They open the game, try to load a mod and it doesn't work. You have to load a mod before you open the game itself.

Step 2: Go to Mod loader, scroll down and find a mod you like. There's a number to choose from. You also have to pick specific candidates and running mates.

Step 3: Open the game, You should see it works and you can have fun. Just make sure to pick the candidate and running mate you picked in the mod loader or else the game won't play properly.

There are other mods that aren't available such as 2008 Obama. If you want to play mods like that you'll have to go to The Campaign Trail's subreddit and look up the mod there. Once you do, You'll see something that says Code 1 and if you click it, it'll send you to this long string of text, to make it easier, by clicking on Edit you can choose select all. Do that and then copy and paste that into Code Set 1, Next, you'll find codes for the candidates and their running mates. Click on the one you want and it'll send you to another Google Docs string of text. Do the same you did for Code 1 except copy and paste into Code Set 2. After that, you should be good.

1992 Perot has been released! So far, you can only play as Perot/Stockdale but it appears that there will be a version with Trump as a VP soon. The creator said it's impossible to win on Normal mode. I just did a run-through on Very Easy and got 304 as Perot.

My goal in life now is to deadlock the Electoral College as Perot, but Clinton just seems too popular, even when I focus on attacking him and he tries to play Giant Steps on Arsenio Hall. The best I've been able to do is Maine, Montana and Nevada.

I won outright as Perot on Cakewalk and came within a few hundred votes in Ohio of deadlocking it on Normal.
