The guy seemed like a pretty ruthless dictator, so not exactly a tragedy.

Idriss Deby survived multiple close calls, a significant amount from his family and compatriots.

F••• him, he recently criminalized homosexual relations.

In the premiere episode of the Batman T.V Show, Batman meets a henchwoman of the villain at a go-go.  In part two, the woman gets into the batcave but falls off of Batman's batcave nuclear reactor (it isn't clear why the batcave is nuclear powered.)  Anyway, as she falls, Batman says "that's a terrible way to go...go."

This is not even close to debatable. He was summarily executed after being captured.

Nuclear power was the ultimate in high tech at the time. Batman was already all about having the geekiest gadgets. Of course, nothing is geekier than the Batcard!

I'd say you could debate whether it's execution or dying in battle.

No, he was captured after the fighting and murdered. It indeed was an execution.

Anyway Deby’s son now has to deal with the mess of a collapsing state and a return to civil war. While the rebels often compose of nomadic Arabized tribes in the north, there’s also the few zaghawa that were alienated by the Deby family among some others in the South (read: primarily from “black” sedentary people) who are angered at the failure of prosperity being distributed unequally. I’m hoping the bunker of the Francophone finally ends and democracy becomes established in Chad.

If executed leaders count I suppose you could add Nicolae Ceaușescu, 1989 to the list.

The real debate here is whether Gaddafi was still meaningfully a head of state by then or not. Some might well actually date his de facto if not de jure end there to the fall of Tripoli.

(same applies to Nick and Elena - toppled from power, if only a matter of days before)

While Gaddafi was in charge until toppled, technically he hadn't been the official head of state since 1979.

Mussolini's Governor General of Libya was killed via friendly fire as the Italians in Tobruk.

Mussolini too. Even if you consider the RSI a real thing (which, lol), he was killed several days after the partisans took most of the big Northern Italian cities. He had abandoned his post and was trying to escape over the Swiss border when he was captured.

Luck, basically. She did get caught by partisans at around the same time and interned for a while.

Samof94 is probably thinking of Mussolini's mistress (him being a True Italian Manly Man's Manly Man and all), who was killed with him.

Getting killed not very chad tho. Virgin Chad President destroyed by chad Chad rebels

Any Klingon will tell you that getting killed in battle personally leading your men against rebel forces is in fact the most chad way for a head of state to go out.
