While the rebels often compose of nomadic Arabized tribes in the north, there’s also the few zaghawa that were alienated by the Deby family among some others in the South (read: primarily from “black” sedentary people) who are angered at the failure of prosperity being distributed unequally. I’m hoping the bunker of the Francophone finally ends and democracy becomes established in Chad.

The real debate here is whether Gaddafi was still meaningfully a head of state by then or not. Some might well actually date his de facto if not de jure end there to the fall of Tripoli.

Mussolini too. Even if you consider the RSI a real thing (which, lol), he was killed several days after the partisans took most of the big Northern Italian cities. He had abandoned his post and was trying to escape over the Swiss border when he was captured.
